A 2-year prospective study of patient-relevant outcomes in patients operated on for knee osteoarthritis with tibial osteotomy

Background: Tibial osteotomy is a treatment for younger and/or physically active patients suffering from uni-compartmental knee osteoarthritis. The open wedge osteotomy by the hemicallotasis technique includes the use of external fixation. The use of external fixation has several advantages, as early mobilization and the opportunity for optimal correction. However, the hemicallotasis technique has

För att stärka de brottsbekämpande myndigheternas möjligheter att förebygga ungdomsrelaterad brottslighet – och därigenom minsSweden is facing a growing problem with children being drawn into organized crime. Recruitment has shifted from physical to digital environments, which the Swedish legal system has been unprepared for. To strengthen law enforcements’ ability to prevent youth crime – and thereby reduce incentives for criminal networks to exploit children – the government appointed a government inquiry in June 2023

Calibrating vegetation phenology from Sentinel-2 using eddy covariance, PhenoCam, and PEP725 networks across Europe

Vegetation phenology obtained from time series of remote sensing data is relevant for a range of ecological applications. The freely available Sentinel-2 imagery at a 10 m spatial resolution with a ~ 5-day repeat cycle provides an opportunity to map vegetation phenology at an unprecedented fine spatial scale. To facilitate the production of a Europe-wide Copernicus Land Monitoring Sentinel-2 based

Retrieving crop albedo based on radar sentinel-1 and random forest approach

Monitoring agricultural crops is of paramount importance for preserving water resources and increasing water efficiency over semi-arid areas. This can be achieved by modelling the water resources all along the growing season through the coupled water–surface energy balance. Surface albedo is a key land surface variable to constrain the surface radiation budget and hence the coupled water–surface e

Project Management Model for In-House Projects

Background/Problem Description: The purpose of project management is to keep track, organize and assure that the specific goal of a project will be accomplished before the project ends. Without a project management model, it is hard for an organization to monitor and fulfill the purpose of project management. Therefore, ESSIQ AB believes it would be beneficial to have a project management mode

Internationalisation

This page is an information source for the staff of the Department of Sociology, the sociology and social anthropology units. It should answer many of your questions related to the internationalization functions of the department, ie how to invite a researcher or guest researcher and how to do a teaching/research stay abroad. Or how to support a student's fieldwork abroad. How to invite a research

Dry deposition of reactive nitrogen to European ecosystems: a comparison of inferential models across the NitroEurope network

Inferential models have long been used to determine pollutant dry deposition to ecosystems from measurements of air concentrations and as part of national and regional atmospheric chemistry and transport models, and yet models still suffer very large uncertainties. An inferential network of 55 sites throughout Europe for atmospheric reactive nitrogen (N-r) was established in 2007, providing ambien

How to create a Quality Culture - not a Quality Straightjacket

Background: Health professions education programs are tasked with designing curricula to effectively andefficiently equip their graduates with the required competences and life-long learning skills needed fortoday’s fast-paced, knowledge intensive society. Continuous monitoring and improving of educationalquality is essential to attain these goals. Quality assurance is multi-faceted and requires t

"How Can I Trust These White Monkeys?!" Union-Buyer Communication and Working Conditions in the Indonesian Sportswear Industry

Widespread abuse of labour rights, leading to poor working conditions, is a major problem in many developing countries. Pressure from civil society has led international buyers to set up corporate codes of conduct (CoCs) and monitoring mechanisms, in order to ensure that labour rights are respected by their suppliers in these countries. However, research has shown that these efforts have been mode

The aim of this study was to illustrate the parents' perceptions of how the drug prevention work is done when parents participated in parent education "Absolut förälder” and afterwards functioning as "tools", with the mission to influence their children's attitudes to alcohol and other drugs. A qualitative research method was used. The empirical material in the study is base

An experimental and theoretical study of the morphine binding capacity and kinetics of an engineered opioid receptor

Electrochemical real-time monitoring of ligand binding to an engineered opioid receptor specific for morphine is reported. In the particular systems studied, 90% of the binding was found to be completed after only 85-120 s. Thus, the binding kinetics has proven to be more rapid than previously believed. The observed association rate constant for the morphine binding reaction was calculated to be 2

Replication Data for : Learning to predict - second language perception of reduced multi-word sequences

This is the data and code from a word-monitoring task, in which advanced learners of English responded to the word 'to' in verb + to-infinitive structures (V-to-Vinf) in English, where 'to' could occur in a full or reduced pronunciation (e.g. "prefer to" [tʊ] or "preferda" [ɾə]). The design of this experiment is replicated from our earlier study with American English native speakers (Lorenz &

Monitoring of Low Molecular Weight Heparin Thromboprophylaxis with Alternative Methods to Anti-Factor Xa

Introduction: Initiating low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) thromboprophylaxis too early in patients with traumatic braininjury increases the risk of intracranial bleeding. Therefore, it is important to monitor LMWH and asses when it is safe to initiate. The aim of this research was to study alternative monitoring methods for LMWH than the standard method anti-factor Xa (antiFXa), and to investiga
