Kursen består av att författa ett specialarbete som ska försvaras på ett seminarium med opponent samt av att opponera på ett annat specialarbete på ett seminarium. Specialarbetet ska skrivas av två studenter tillsammans. Arbetet handleds av en eller flera handledare. The course consists of writing an essay that is publicly defended at a seminar with a discussant and to discuss another essay at a seminar. The essay shall be written individually or by two students writing together. In the process of writing, the student is advised by one or more tutors.

This package consist of courses about the rise of Asian economies. The first course explores and explains the historical processes of rapid industrialisation and socio-economic modernisation in Pacific Asia. The second looks more specifically at the recent rise of Asia’s two giants – China and India. Both courses provide perspectives from development economics.
