Two Ultra-Low Power MM-Wave Push-Pull VCOs in FD-SOI CMOS

Two low-power mm-wave voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) designed in a 28-nm fully-depleted silicon-on-insulator (FD-SOI) CMOS process are demonstrated, using a push-pull differential architecture. Measurement show that the first VCO has a 10.8% tuning rage centered at 30.3 GHz, and the second has a 8.9 % tuning range at 58.7 GHz. The 30 GHz VCO consumes 1.06 mW from a 1 V supply, and has a -11

Kinetics and Mechanism for the Redox Reaction between Hexaaquathallium(III) and Sulfur Dioxide in Acidic Aqueous Solution

Oxidation of dissolved sulfur dioxide, SO2·nH2O, HSO3– and SO32–, by hexaaquathallium(III) has been studied in acidic aqueous solution with ionic strength 1.0 mol dm–3 at 25 °C. The stoichiometry of the reaction has been determined: [Tl(H2O)6]3++ SO2(aq)+ 2H2O →[Tl(H2O)6]++ HSO4–+ 3H+. The kinetics has been studied by use of stopped-flow spectrophotometry under pseudo-first-order conditions with eOxidation of dissolved sulfur dioxide, SO2·nH2O, HSO3– and SO32–, by hexaaquathallium(III) has been studied in acidic aqueous solution with ionic strength 1.0 mol dm–3 at 25 °C. Development of combined operando diagnostics : Applications in heterogeneous catalysis and electrochemistry

With the aim to bridge the pressure gap between traditional surface science and industrial applications, heterogeneous catalytic reactions on model catalysts are increasingly studied at near-ambient pressures. Under those conditions, the gas phase has been shown to play an important role during the interaction at the gas-surface interface making it complex to study. This complexity can be captured

Investigating verbal coding of pictures and the effects of language in children during a short-term memory task with eye tracking

Understanding the parameters of using speech code for visual material is critical to a range of theories concerning memory span development, and the relationship between language and thought. The present study attempted to reveal whether a group of children (N = 39, age 5–7) used verbal labelling of pictures in a memory task, by investigating dwell times on pictures of objects. It is the first stu

Development of Novel Therapies, Models, and Biomarkers for Osteoclast-Related Diseases

Osteoclasts are derived from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and form upon stimulation of osteoclast precursors by macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) and receptor activator of nuclear factor κΒ ligand (RANKL). Osteoclasts resorb bone by secreting hydrochloric acid, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and cathepsin K. Failure of bone resorption or bone formation results in metabolic bone disOsteoclasts are derived from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and form upon stimulation of osteoclast precursors by macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) and receptor activator of nuclear factor κΒ ligand (RANKL). Minority joy, minority growth, and minority peace : Transgender and gender diverse people’s varied positive lived experiences

Background: Compared to negative experiences and ill health, little attention has been paidto positive experiences connected to being transgender and gender diverse (TGD).Aim: The aim of the current study was to explore TGD people’s positive experiences in depth. Methods: In total, 33 TGD people were interviewed. Transcripts were analyzed using reflexivethematic analysis. Results: Results show that

Adapting to the change. The impact of climate finance on sustainable development: a new evaluation tool for climate adaptation projects

Adverse consequences of global climate change increasingly affect society and economic performance. Climate finance structure supports mitigation and adaptation actions that address climate change. Developing economies are adopting climate adaptation measures to cope with the current climate situation and simultaneously promote sustainable development. The interrelation between climate adaptation

A parametric approach to data cleaning of ion current measurements

In this thesis, a few possible methods to clean nuisance signals from ion current measurements are explored. Ion current measurements can be used to optimise a combustion engine, but interference from the ignition system coupled with clipping caused by limitations in the measurement equipment limit the amount of data that can be extracted. This thesis develops a model which is used for simulation

Promoting water-related innovation through networked acceleration : Insights from the Water Innovation Accelerator

The current state of the water and sanitation sector has put water-related innovations high on the global policy agenda. However, the systemic complexity that typically surrounds such contexts call for actionable knowledge of how to enable and orchestrate innovative solutions by connecting different players via organized networks. In this study we explore and analyse the Water Innovation Accelerat

Dynamics of Crisis Communication

The crisis communication has been thrust into a new era, namely “mass self-communication” that brings grand challenges to governments or corporates in the network society. This Project will take Weibo in China as a case to explore the dynamics of crisis communication in the age of social media, departing from but transcending the diverse frames created by multiple communicators during crises. Exploring the microbiota of the gastrointestinal tract

Popular Abstract in English Like earth is home for us, our gastrointestinal (GI) tract is home for microbes. All the bacteria that are living there are called “microbiota” and the total DNA they contain is called “microbiome”. The GI microbiota outnumbers human cells by factor of ten and the microbiome is at least 100 times larger than our human genome. A wide range of metabolic activities are perAbstract: Balanced microbiota of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is important for maintaining health of the host. Altered gut microbiota have been found to be associated with various life-style induced and other intestinal inflammatory diseases. Gut microbiota is viewed as a metabolic organ and considered as new target for therapies. This thesis describes the work on exploring the microbiota of th
