Brand image and customers’ willingness to pay a price premium for food brands

Purpose – The aim is to understand customers' willingness, or unwillingness, to pay a price premium in the market for consumer packaged food and what kind of images brands can use in order to achieve a price premium. Design/methodology/approach – The study is based on a quantitative survey of brand images found in food and branding literature and their impact on loyalty as well as customers' will

Advert saliency distracts children's visual attention during goal-directed internet use

The general research question of the present study was to assess the impact of visually salient online adverts on children's task-oriented internet use. In order to answer this question as reliably as possible, an experimental study was constructed in which 9-year-old and 12-year-old Swedish children were asked to solve a number of tasks while interacting with a mockup website. In each trial, web

Results of a phase I/II study of ocrelizumab, a fully humanized anti-CD20 mAb, in patients with relapsed/refractory follicular lymphoma

Background: Ocrelizumab is a humanized anti-CD20 antibody with increased antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity compared with rituximab. This phase I/II study evaluated its safety and efficacy in patients with relapsed/refractory follicular lymphoma (FL) after prior rituximab therapy. Design and methods: Forty-seven patients were treated in three dose cohorts and received eight infusions every 3

The HUPO proteomics standards initiative-mass spectrometry controlled vocabulary

Controlled vocabularies (CVs), i.e. a collection of predefined terms describing a modeling domain, used for the semantic annotation of data, and ontologies are used in structured data formats and databases to avoid inconsistencies in annotation, to have a unique (and preferably short) accession number and to give researchers and computer algorithms the possibility for more expressive semantic anno

Bacterial modulation of host glycosylation - in infection, biotechnology, and therapy

De bakteriella enzymerna kan användas i bioteknisk industri och eveA majority of the proteins of the immune system are glycosylated and the glycans of IgG are essential for its functionality. Bacteria display enzymes that modulate the glycans of the immune system to weaken the host defense and favor bacterial survival. In this thesis we aimed at exploring bacterial modulation of host glycosylation in infection and to evaluate the usefulness of bacterial enzymes i

Finite element simulation of an AA2024-T3 friction stir weld

This paper presents a three-dimensional sequentially coupled thermo-mechanical analysis of the friction stir welding process suitable for residual stress prediction. A friction stir butt weld of the aluminium alloy 2024 T3 is simulated using finite element analysis. The thermal model includes diffusive heat transfer in the work pieces and that backing plate, convective heat transfer in the work pi

Aerodynamic flight performance in flap-gliding birds and bats.

Many birds use a flight mode called undulating or flap-gliding flight, where they alternate between flapping and gliding phases, while only a few bats make use of such a flight mode. Among birds, flap-gliding is commonly used by medium to large species, where it is regarded to have a lower energetic cost than continuously flapping flight. Here, we introduce a novel model for estimating the energet

Controlling particle morphology and size in the synthesis of mesoporous SBA-15 materials

Plate-like particles of SBA-15 form from smaller units (primary particles) that aggregate in an oriented manner. In this report we influence this aggregation by adding salt to the ongoing synthesis, generating well-ordered hexagonal p6m structure (SBA-15), with varying particle diameters. The additions, with either NaCl or NaI, were made at a time corresponding to the onset of oriented aggregation

Sealed Glass Tube Combustion of mu g-Sized Aerosol Samples

It is important to evaluate each step in radiocarbon analysis to ensure that the whole process is as efficient and accurate as possible. Aerosol filter samples contain a myriad of carbonaceous compounds with varying resistance to oxidation. Complete combustion of the sample is thus of great importance to ensure that the graphitized sample is representative of the original filter sample. We have ev

Serologic Analysis of Returned Travelers with Fever, Sweden

We studied 1,432 febrile travelers from Sweden who had returned from malaria-endemic areas during March 2005-March 2008. In 383 patients, paired serum samples were blindly analyzed for influenza and 7 other agents. For 21% of 115 patients with fever of unknown origin, serologic analysis showed that influenza was the major cause.

Atypical course in severe catatonic schizophrenia in a cannabis-dependent male adolescent: a case report.

Adolescents with psychoses usually have full recovery from their first psychotic episode, but the first relapse often arises within 2 years of the first episode. Cannabis-related psychoses are difficult to distinguish from schizophrenic psychoses. Here, we describe a particularly severe clinical case, with a first psychotic episode occurring after heavy cannabis smoking, an atypically long symptom

Cancer stem cells in tumor heterogeneity.

Cancer cells within a given tumor were long regarded as a largely homogeneous group of cells originating from a common progenitor cell. However, it is increasingly appreciated that there is a considerable heterogeneity within tumors also on the tumor cell level. This heterogeneity extends to virtually all measurable properties of cancer cells, ranging from differentiation state, proliferation rate
