Nyquist's Contributions to Control and Communication
Slides from two lectures given at the commemoration of the Nyquist Hall at Karlstad Institute of Technology. The first lecture presents Nyquist's stability criterion and discusses its consequences for the field of Automatic Control. The second lecture (in Swedish) gives a shorter but broader presentation of Nyquist's contributions to communication and control.

General method for calculation of equilibrium shrinkage of porous and brittle materials : paper presented at the 2nd international CIB/RILEM symposium on moisture problems in buildings, Rotterdam, Sept. 10 to 12, 1974
Lipoprotein production by the heart: a novel pathway of triglyceride export from cardiomyocytes
The current knowledge on lipoprotein secretion from the heart is examined in this article. The ability of cells to secrete apolipoprotein B (apo-B) containing lipoproteins depends on expression of the apo-B and microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP) genes. Initially, it was shown that both genes are expressed in cardiac myocytes of mice and humans. Electron microscopy of human cardiac myoc
Collective and broken pair states of Ga-65,Ga-67
Excited states of Ga-65 and Ga-67 nuclei were populated through the C-12(Ni-58,alpha p) and C-12(Ni-58,3p) reactions, respectively, and investigated by in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopic methods. The NORDBALL array equipped with a charged particle ball and 11 neutron detectors was used to detect the evaporated particles and gamma rays. The level schemes of Ga-6.5.67 were constructed On the basis of g

Whitepaper: S88 for Beginners
Are you interested in or curious about Batch Control, ISA S88, and/or Plant Automation in general, then this whitepaper is for you.
In the following three pages you will learn the basics about Batch Control and ISA S88 and you will understand how you can benefit from knowing them. For a deeper understanding I recommend you to read the other whitepapers in this series as well as reading the ISA
New species of Uroglena and Ochromonas (Chromulinales, Chrysophyceae) from Estonia
During the spring of 2003 ninety-five water bodies in southeastern Estonia were surveyed for chrysophytes. The sampling was carried out as the ice broke up, when, within two weeks, the water temperature rose from 3 degrees C to 13 degrees C. Large lakes to small pools of different water chemistry were investigated. The plankton collected was studied alive within a few hours after sampling. Prepara
The Department of English in Lund : Working Papers in Linguistics Vol. 3
The Department of English in Lund: Working Papers in Linguistics is an annual volume produced by the English Department at Lund University in Sweden. Its main aim is to publicize research being carried out by staff and post-graduate students in the department, but we are also pleased to include contributions from members of neighbouring departments and universities. The contributions in volume 3

Short range forces in surfactant systems. Specific ion-effects and ion competition
Electrostatic effects often dominate the behavior of charged surfactant systems. While descriptions on the level of the Poisson-Boltzmann equation are successful in describing many important features of such systems, they cannot predict those specific ion effects arising when changing counterions of the same valency and they often fail in predicting effects due to changing from a monovalent to a d

Binding of the potent allergen hexahydrophthalic anhydride in the mucosa of the upper respiratory and alimentary tract following single inhalation exposures in guinea pigs and rats
Hexahydrophthalic anhydride (HHPA; CAS No. 13149-00-3) is a highly allergenic compound commonly used in the chemical industry. Guinea pigs and rats were exposed to [3H2]HHPA by inhalation for 3-8 h and were killed at various intervals during 7 days. The tissue distribution of non-volatile and covalently bound radioactivity was studied by autoradiography. Tissue bound radioactivity was mainly found
Persistent organic pollutants in oysters Crassostrea gigas and sand flathead Platycephalus bassensis from Tasmanian estuarine and coastal waters
Secondary emissions from alkali attack on adhesives and PVC floorings
The report describes three investigations of emissions from alkali attack on adhesives and floorings. The investigations show that low alkali levelling compounds, based on calcium aluminate cement, can act as a protection against secondary emissions of 1-butanol and 2-ethylhexanol, provided that the humidity does not exceed a critical level, which with some safety margin is recommended to be 90% R
Rapid quantification of yersinia enterocolitica in pork samples by a novel sample preparation method, flotation, prior to real-time PCR
The development of real-time PCR thermal cycles in the late 1990s has opened up the possibility of accurate quantification of microorganisms in clinical, environmental, and food samples. However, a lack of suitable sample preparation methods that allow rapid quantification of the nucleic acids, remove PCR inhibitors, and prevent false-positive results due to DNA originating from dead cells has lim
Dynamic phase diagram and onion formation in the system C10E3/D2O
The influence of the shear on the lamellar phase, L, of the system C10E3/D2O was studied along an isoplethal path (40 wt.% C10E3) in the temperature range 25-42degreesC. A dynamic phase diagram was determined by steady-state rheometry, where by shear action the lamellar phase was transformed into multilamellar vesicles (MLVs) ("onions"). The location of "onions" in the dynamic phase diagram, depen
