Courses in Swedish for international staff at MAX IV
In the spring of 2026 we will offer a continuation course in Swedish at MAX IV. The course is for those who have previously attended a beginners' course in Swedish course or have equivalent knowledge. If you have not taken a Swedish course before, SOL offers a placement test.
The course will start on February 10 and be held on Tuesdays in one of the facilities at MAX IV from 14:15 to 16:30. The course will be taught by a teacher from Lund University and it consists of 14 sessions, concluding with an exam. Before registering, please remember to talk with your manager whether attending the course during working hours is compatible with your work tasks and schedule.
Registration for the course and placement tests, as well as expressions of interest for other Swedish courses, is done via this website below. Please note that spots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Level 1–3
Level 1 corresponds to level A1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), representing the ability to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at meeting concrete needs.
Level 2 corresponds to level A2, indicating the ability to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance, as well as to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a direct exchange of information.
Level 3 corresponds to an early stage of level B1, reflecting the ability to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters, and to produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
Placement test
If you have prior knowledge of Swedish, you may take a placement test for entry into level 2 or 3. Placement tests will be offered a couple of times during each semester. Level 1 is an absolute beginner's course, and no placement test is required for enrolment.
