Assessing Dietary Intake Patterns Through Cluster Analysis Among Adolescents in Selected Districts of Bihar and Assam From India : A Cross-Sectional Survey

Background: In the recent decade, dietary pattern assessment has evolved as a promising tool to describe the whole diet and represent inter-correlations between different dietary components. We aimed to derive the dietary patterns of adolescents (10–19 years) using cluster analysis on food groups and evaluate these patterns according to their socio-demographic profile. Methods: This community-base

Structures of subcontracting : Work organisation, control, and labour in the Swedish building sector

Svensk byggindustri är under förändring. Stora delar av produktionen läggs idag ut på entreprenad och byggföretag förlitar sig på underentreprenörer i större utsträckning än tidigare. Som en del av en global trend av kostnadsreducering inom byggindustrin, försöker byggföretag minimera antalet anställda hantverkare och istället utkontraktera arbete till underentreprenörer i strävan efter organisatoThe organisation of work in the Swedish building sector is changing due to increased subcontracting and the adoption of construction management. In this study, construction management refers to a specific subcontracting regime, in which contractors externalise all parts of the production process and organise work through subcontractors. Echoing global trends of cost-cutting, this externalisation b

DYNAC : Extensions, updates, and upgrades

DYNAC [1] is a multi-particle beamline simulation code suitable for modelling of the motion of protons, heavy ions, or electrons, moving through linear accelerators and beam transport lines. In this paper, we document extensions written in Python. It will be shown how these Python extensions add a considerable amount of flexibility to DYNAC, while maintaining the calculation speeds available from

Investigation of possible underlying mechanisms behind water-induced glucose reduction in adults with high copeptin

Elevated copeptin, a surrogate marker of vasopressin, is linked to low water intake and increased diabetes risk. Water supplementation in habitual low-drinkers with high copeptin significantly lowers both fasting plasma (fp) copeptin and glucose. This study aims at investigating possible underlying mechanisms. Thirty-one healthy adults with high copeptin (> 10.7 pmol·L−1 (men), > 6.1 pmol−1 (women

Urban neighborhoods – the locus of change. What can we learn from the transition story of Augustenborg?

Cities, and more importantly urban neighborhoods, are key sites of infrastructure provision with direct links to social and environmental concerns. They are increasingly seen as sites of strategic action in transitions toward sustainability and resilience, and offer big opportunities for fundamental societal change. The framing of neighborhood-level problems and their solutions, governance process

Moving beyond traditional measures – lessons from evaluating collaborative initiatives at Lund University

Over the last decade, universities and other institutions of higher education (HEIs) worldwide have witnessed an evolution to their role relative to society – with increasing attention to external engagement and expectations on societal impact. This has fostered an upswing in activity as research and innovation funding bodies and universities alike explore new approaches to working with external e

Sodium hydrosulfide has no additive effects on nitrite-inhibited renal gluconeogenesis in type 2 diabetic rats

Objective: Increased renal and hepatic gluconeogenesis are important sources of fasting hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes (T2D). The inhibitory effect of co-administration of sodium nitrite and sodium hydrosulfide (NaSH) on hepatic but not renal gluconeogenesis has been reported in rats with T2D. The present study aimed to determine the effects of co-administration of sodium nitrite and NaSH on the

Oxytocin prolongs the gastric emptying time in patients with diabetes mellitus and gastroparesis, but does not affect satiety or volume intake in patients with functional dyspepsia

Background: Oxytocin is released in response to a fatty meal. Blockage of the oxytocin receptor led to slower gastric emptying whereas stimulation resulted in less satiety in healthy volunteers. Patients with diabetes mellitus and gastroparesis lack oxytocin elevation, and dyspepsia is partly caused by reduced fundus accommodation causing early satiety and related symptoms. The aim of this study w

Biogeografisk uppföljning 2020 av dagfjärilar inom habitatdirektivet

Rapporten sammanfattar fjärilsinventeringar utförda 2020 inom Biogeografisk uppföljning som drivs av Naturvårdsverket. I fjällområdet kunde totalt 49 ytor inventeras.

RECLAMATION OF AL-KARAMA DAM WATER USING SOLAR ENERGY FOR DESALINATION- JORDAN

Jordan has one of the lowest available water supplies in the world; meanwhile, Jordan has seen a large increase in population and refugee’s fluxes, leading to an increase in water demand. To address this unprecedented water scarcity, Jordan’s water must be used where its social and economic value is highest. Jordan must treat and reuse virtually every drop of water. With using brackish water (i.e,

Income-based inequality in full immunization coverage of children aged 12-23 months in Eastern India : A decomposition analysis

IntroductionNotably, less than two-thirds of under-5 children received full immunization in 2016 in India. It is critical to understand the inequalities in access to immunization for determining an effective health policy agenda to ensure universal health coverage. Hence, we performed a study to assess the determinants of income-based inequality in the full immunization of children aged 12–23 usin

Management of Spontaneous Isolated Mesenteric Artery Dissection : A Systematic Review

Background and Aims: There are increasing reports on case series on spontaneous isolated mesenteric artery dissection, that is, dissections of the superior mesenteric artery and celiac artery, mainly due to improved diagnostic capacity of high-resolution computed tomography angiography performed around the clock. A few case–control studies are now available, while randomized controlled trials are
