Degree projects - Physics Beyond the Standard Model

Phenomenology beyond the Standard Model is a wide subject and our group is specialised in a few areas as listed below. Projects can be developed in all these areas, and adjacent ones. You are always welcome to contact us to discuss details, or if you have a project idea that you think could fit. A new module, RDENSITY, of the GRASP2018 package [1] is presented for evaluating the radial electron density function of an atomic state described by a multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock or configuration interaction wave function in the fully relativistic scheme. The present module is the relativistic version of DENSITY [2] that was developed for the ATSP2K package [3]. The calculation of the s

The discovery of a novel long-lived metastable skyrmion phase in the multiferroic insulator Cu2OSeO3 visualized with Lorentz transmission electron microscopy for magnetic fields below the equilibrium skyrmion pocket is reported. This phase can be accessed by exciting the sample non-adiabatically with near-infrared femtosecond laser pulses and cannot be reached by any conventional field-cooling pro

The interesting double-prism experiment of Ghose, Home, and Agarwal 5) has been suggested 5, 8, 16, 7, 6) as a challenge to Bohr´s views of complementarity. With the linguistic complementarity 14) as a general notion of complementarity, we analyze Bohr´s views of complementarity. We find that a careful formulation of Bohr´s wave-particle complementarity, with an explicit characterization of measur

Several Zn-porphyrin (ZnP) derivatives were designed to build highly efficient dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC). It was found that solar cell efficiencies normalized for surface coverage (eta(rel)) are affected by the molecular spacer connecting the porphyrin core to the TiO2 surface, the sensitization conditions (solvent and time), and, to a lesser extent, the nature of the terminal group of the

Entanglement is a key feature of quantum mechanics1–3, with applications in fields such as metrology, cryptography, quantum information and quantum computation4–8. It has been observed in a wide variety of systems and length scales, ranging from the microscopic9–13 to the macroscopic14–16. However, entanglement remains largely unexplored at the highest accessible energy scales. Here we report the

Vi har arbetat med en teknik som kallas NMR diffusometri, som utvecklats av StejskalThe aim of these studies has been to investigate what information that can be obtained on gel-emulsions with nuclear magnetic resonance, NMR, as the investigating tool. The gel-emulsions are important in many technical applications such as in food products, in cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations, and in emulsion explosives, just to name a few applications. We have worked with the NMR diffusom

Improvement of structural efficiency in various materials is critically important for sustainable society development and the efficient use of natural resources. Recently, a lot of attention in science and engineering has been attracted to heterogeneous-structure materials because of high structural efficiency. However, strategies for the efficient design of heterogenous structures are still in th

All ten LIGO/Virgo binary black hole (BH-BH) coalescences reported following the O1/O2 runs have near-zero effective spins. There are only three potential explanations for this. If the BH spin magnitudes are large, then: (i) either both BH spin vectors must be nearly in the orbital plane or (ii) the spin angular momenta of the BHs must be oppositely directed and similar in magnitude. Then there is

Spintronik är en ny teknik under utveckling som skulle kunna erbjuda lösningar för dessa problA new design based on the spinFET proposed by Datta-Das was fabricated, using a channel defined by etching on a 2DEG material and nanomagnets as top-gates. The magnetotransports properties were measured at low temperatures. Magnetoresistance changes with different behaviors were measured in different configurations and the presence of hysteresis showed the action of the nanomagntes. But, due to th

We experimentally investigate the properties of one-dimensional quantum rings that form near the surface of nanowire quantum dots. In agreement with theoretical predictions, we observe the appearance of forbidden gaps in the evolution of states in a magnetic field as the symmetry of a quantum ring is reduced. For a twofold symmetry, our experiments confirm that orbital states are grouped pairwise.

We report on the fabrication and optimization of Cs0.05FA0.79MA0.16Pb(Br0.17I0.83)3 perovskite solar cells from inks containing the polymer PTB7 as an additive, comparing spin-coating and inkjet printing as deposition methods. Spin-coated devices exhibited a maximum power conversion efficiency of 17.75% but showed little difference between samples with and without the polymer ink additive. For ink

Objective: Ovarian carcinoma (OvCa) is more common in the elderly, but also affects the adolescent and young adult (AYA) generation, which refers to those aged 15–39 years. Although the characteristics of OvCa may differ between AYAs and non-AYAs, limited information is currently available on differences in prognostic factors. Therefore, we herein investigated prognostic factors for and the progno
