LAMiNATE Talks: Edith Kaan — Language models and L2 processing
Edith Kaan, University of Florida
The use of (large) language models has become quite common in psycholinguistics. Most of this research is restricted to “monolingual” language processing. In my talk I will discuss how language models can help the psycholinguistics of second-language sentence processing and vice versa, some of the insights yielded thus far, and remaining challenges, focusing on lexical processing and the processing of dependencies.
Part 1 of 3 on a series of talks on the neurological underpinnings of language, organised by the TEAM research programme (Transdisciplinary Approaches to Learning, Acquisition, Multilingualism)
