This thesis is a general overlook on the societal benefits of walking infrastructure. It is divided between a literature review; concerning what makes people walk, what benefits this might give and how to place a value on these factors, and an empirical part; researching how evaluating value, and by other means quantifying effects, is used and can be used in the planning of walking infrastructure.
