Carbon Capture & Storage in the Cement Industry: A viable option for Sweden?

The Swedish government has set the goal of achieving carbon-neutrality by 2045. The production of cement currently accounts for 8% of CO2 emissions worldwide, with a similar figure also true of Sweden. A clear government strategy is therefore needed to work with and provide support to the cement industry for decarbonisation. The most developed pathway for cement decarbonisation in the literature i

Peel testing of a packaging material laminate studied by in-situ X-ray tomography and cohesive zone modeling

Peel testing is used to study adhesive fracture in packaging material laminates. The focus is on improved understanding of the mechanisms that provide a laminate's adhesive properties, as measured by standard macroscopic tests. Using a specially-designed peel test load rig, peel tests are performed in-situ in a laboratory X-ray tomograph. The peel test results are analyzed using a combination of tPeel testing is used to study adhesive fracture in packaging material laminates. Designing air ticket taxes for climate change mitigation: insights from a Swedish valuation study

Research on air travellers’ willingness to pay (WTP) for climate change mitigation has focussed on voluntary emissions offsetting so far. This approach overlooks policy relevant knowledge as it does not consider that people may value public goods higher if they are certain that others also contribute. To account for potential differences, this study investigates Swedish adults’ WTP for a mandatory

The effect of weighting factors on income-related energy inequalities : The case of Sweden’s new building code

To ensure building construction with low heating demand, efficient use of sustainable energy carriers, and neutrality between heating technologies, Sweden recently introduced weighting factors (WFs) for different energy carriers which are now used in Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs). As EPC ratings are gaining increased influence in Swedish energy policy and regulation, with recent examples

Promote social participation among older persons by identifying physical challenges – An important aspect of preventive home visits

Introduction: Social participation can have a positive impact on health; however, physical challenges can be hindrances. During a preventive home visit a health professional (visitor) assesses different aspects of physical, mental and social health. However, there might be a challenge for the visitor to discover the interrelationship between physical factors that hinder social participation. There

The UP-TECH project, an intervention to support caregivers of Alzheimer's disease patients in Italy : Study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

Background: The epidemic of Alzheimer's disease (AD) represents a significant challenge for the health care and social service systems of many developed countries. AD affects both patients and family caregivers, on whom the main burden of care falls, putting them at higher risk of stress, anxiety, mortality and lower quality of life. Evidence remains controversial concerning the effectiveness of p

PowerPoint-Präsentation Can sown flower-rich fields enhance pollination in the agricultural landscape? Agricultural intensification has led to a massive decrease of biodiversity and loss of semi-natural habitats in agricultural landscapes. As a result, biodiversity-dependent ecosystem services like crop pollination are at risk! Agri-environmental schemes (AES) aim to restore part of the biodiversi

We examined the association of exposure to insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides with cognitive and mental health outcomes among these avocado workers from Michoacan, Mexico. Materials and methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of 105 avocado farmworkers between Ma

Does method matter? : Understanding experience data collected through different mobile techniques

Knowledge on the influence of methods on research outcomes is scarce within experience studies. In this study, GPS devices were compared to smartphones to collect experience data in theme parks. Departing from the relevance of epistemology, it was assumed that the choice of method influences the results. We show that data collection modalities themselves influence empirical results when it comes t
