Ultracold quantum gases with long-range anisotropic interactions host novel exotic phases of matter, such as supersolids, exhibiting both rigid and superfluid characteristics. The impact of this interplay on the out-of-equilibrium dynamics of dipolar gases, and in particular its connection with universal turbulent behavior, remains highly unexplored. Here, upon considering a dipolar Bose-Einstein

Digital philology: When ancient text meets modern tech

19 november 2025 12:15 till 12:45 | Föreläsning The field of classical philology is progressing at a rate unseen since the renaissance. Old problems that until just two or three years ago seemed hopelessly intractable are well on their way to being solved. Fascinating research on the unrolling of the burned scrolls of Herculaneum, and automatic filling in of textual lacunae in inscriptions and pap

Quantum dots embedded in an electronic circuit allow precise control over the charge transport behaviour of the system: Charge carriers can be individually trapped or precisely shuffled between a series of quantum dots in a strictly sequential manner. This introduces ideal conditions to study fundamental quantum physics and such devices are in the focus of extensive efforts to develop quantum info

A general theoretical approach to study the quantum kinetics in a system coupled to a bath is proposed. Starting with the microscopic interaction, a Lindblad master equation is established, which goes beyond the common secular approximation. This allows for the treatment of systems, where coherences are generated by the bath couplings while avoiding the negative occupations occurring in the Bloch-

The coherent coupling of photons to solid state emitters is one of the building blocks for future quantum technology. However, one of the main sources for non-perfect or even strongly reduced coherence of the photons is charge noise which introduces energy shifts during or in between the photon emission events. In particular solid-state emitters in nanostructures suffer from such spectral diffusio

The light output of quantum cascade lasers is strongly affected by electric field-domain oscillations if the laser shows electrical instabilities. This can result in a substantial broadening of the emission spectrum, which is investigated here by detailed simulations for a terahertz device. We explain how the light pulsation is affected by electrical injection conditions and external capacitances.

Quantum devices depend on addressable elements, which can be modified separately and in their mutual interaction. Self-assembly at surfaces, for example, formation of a porous (metal-) organic network, provides an ideal way to manufacture arrays of identical quantum boxes, arising in this case from the confinement of the electronic (Shockley) surface state within the pores. We show that the electr

Advances in ultrafast spectroscopy can provide access to dynamics involving nontrivial quantum correlations and their evolutions. In coherent 2D spectroscopy, the oscillatory time dependence of a signal is a signature of such quantum dynamics. Here, we study such beating signals in electronic coherent 2D spectroscopy of CdSe quantum dots (CdSe QDs) at 77 K. The beating signals are analyzed in term

In this Letter, we explore the use of thermodynamic length to improve the performance of experimental protocols. In particular, we implement Landauer erasure on a driven electron level in a semiconductor quantum dot, and compare the standard protocol in which the energy is increased linearly in time with the one coming from geometric optimization. The latter is obtained by choosing a suitable metr
