Border Work as Socio Legal Activist Research

This co-authored article develops Border Work (BW) as a methodological approach which is under explored in socio-legal scholar-activism, through analysing two distinct examples. While both examples depart from feminist methodology, the differences are stark: Noor, excluded from democratic processes, faced deportation risks, while we, with institutional support, engaged in public mobilizations withThis co-authored article develops Border Work (BW) as a methodological approach which is under explored in socio-legal scholar-activism, through analysing two distinct examples. Restriction-site associated DNA sequencing supports a sister group relationship of Nigritella and Gymnadenia (Orchidaceae)

The orchid genus Nigritella is closely related to Gymnadenia and has from time to time been merged with the latter. Although Nigritella is morphologically distinct, it has been suggested that the separating characters are easily modifiable and subject to rapid evolutionary change. So far, molecular phylogenetic studies have either given support for the inclusion of Nigritella in Gymnadenia, or for

Kvinnors rättigheter och icke-statliga Organisationer, a perfect match?

Since the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) was adopted in 1979 there has been evident progress in the area of women's rights in great parts of the world, although this progress is still foremost concentrated to the Western hemisphere. In Argentina, the work with gender equality and women's rights set of strongly during the last decade. The

Biodiversity loss through speciation collapse : Mechanisms, warning signals, and possible rescue

Speciation is the process that generates biodiversity, but recent empirical findings show that it can also fail, leading to the collapse of two incipient species into one. Here, we elucidate the mechanisms behind speciation collapse using a stochastic individual-based model with explicit genetics. We investigate the impact of two types of environmental disturbance: deteriorated visual conditions,

An investigation of combustion properties of a gasoline primary reference fuel surrogate blended with butanol

Currently, many research studies are exploring opportunities for the use of novel fuels and of their blends with conventional, i.e. petroleum-based fuels. To pave the way for their acceptance and implementation in the existing energy market, a comprehensive knowledge about their combustion properties is inevitable, among others. Within this context, alcohols, with butanol in particular, are consid

System analysis for environmental policy – System thinking through system dynamic modelling and policy mixing as used in the SimRess project

Diverse and complex interactions as well as multi-actor systems characterise resource use and re- source policy. This makes system analysis a relevant tool to orient resource policy towards the long term. Analysing such complex systems requires systemic thinking, consideration of causal loops as well as time-lags and delays in system responses. In the SimRess project, system analysis encompassed pa

Anti-glomerular basement membrane disease : an update on subgroups, pathogenesis and therapies

Most patients with anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease present with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis with or without pulmonary haemorrhage; however, there are several variants and vigilance is necessary to make a correct diagnosis. Such variants include overlap with anti-neutrophil cytoplasm antibodies-associated vasculitis and membranous nephropathy as well as anti-GBM occu

How do SPACquisitions Perform?: Empirical Evidence on Post-Merger Performance in SPAC 3.0

Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (“SPACs”) provide targets with an alternative route to the public markets and have grown significantly in popularity in recent years. The existing literature on SPAC performance, which predominantly examines the previous generation of SPACs (pre-2010), reveals that the market tends to react positively to acquisition announcement, while post-merger performance

Gallia- Versus Alumina-Supported Cu : Dynamics of Ga in Catalysts for Green Methanol Production

The transformation of CO2 and green hydrogen into methanol presents a sustainable route for chemical and fuel production. Conventional methanol synthesis catalysts, such as Cu/ZnO/Al2O3, employ Al2O3 as a structural promoter, while Ga2O3 has recently emerged as a promising alternative. This study compares Cu-based catalysts supported on Al2O3 (CA) and Ga2O3 (CG), prepared via coprecipitation of la

First contact: Experiences of final year psychology students with virtual reality relaxation in higher education

This study explored how final-year psychology students experienced their initial exposure to virtual reality (VR) relaxation using a scientifically developed application designed to promote emotional well-being and stress reduction. The aim was to understand how VR is perceived as a space for emotional regulation, embodiment, and reflection within psychological education. A qualitative exploratory

The Quercetum Chorus Workshop introduced students in the Cal Poly Pomona Interdisciplinary Paris Study Abroad Program (CPP IPSAP) to methods of deepening human-tree relations through sound, drawing and movement. Students applied a multi-sensory approach to knowing trees by attuning to their frequencies, textures, shapes, and movements. They were invited to reimagine trees as more-than-human bodies

The Cost-effectiveness of Biological Therapy Cycles in the Management of Crohn's Disease

OBJECTIVES: To examine the cost-effectiveness of continued treatment for patients with moderate-severe Crohn's disease in clinical remission, with a combination of anti-tumour necrosis factor alpha [anti-TNFα] [infliximab] and immunomodulator therapy compared with two different withdrawal strategies: [1] withdrawal of the anti-TNFα therapy; and [2] withdrawal of the immunomodulator therapy, respec

Cytokines induce increased endothelin ET(B) receptor-mediated contraction

The effect of cytokines on the induction of contractile endothelin ET(B) receptors during organ culture was examined. Ring segments of rat superior mesenteric artery were used fresh or incubated for 24 h in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium alone, or with either interleukin-1beta, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) or interleukin-2. In fresh arterial segments there was no endothelin ET(B) re

Coulomb excitation of Sn-110 using REX-ISOLDE

In this paper, we report the preliminary result from the first Coulomb excitation experiment at REX-ISOLDE (Habs et al 1998 Nucl. Instrum. Methods B 139 128) using neutron-deficient Sn-beams. The motivation of the experiment is to deduce the reduced transition probability, B(E2; 2(+) -> 0(+)), for the sequence of neutron deficient, unstable, even-even Sn- isotopes from Sn-110 to ultimately Sn-110.
