Optimal blood tests for development of new therapies of Alzheimer’s disease
A new study have identified which blood tests are best at detecting Alzheimer’s disease during the earliest stages, and also another blood test that is optimal for detecting relevant treatment effects. These findings will speed up the development of new therapies that can slow down the disease progression. The article was originally published as a press release from the Sahlgrenska Academy, Univer

Cutting out sugar and starch is as effective for IBS as current recommendations
Symptoms for patients with the gastrointestinal disease IBS improved as much by eating less sugar and starch as for those who followed FODMAP – the diet currently recommended to patients. The results, presented in a new study from Lund University in Sweden, also show that weight loss is greater and sugar cravings are reduced among those who follow the starch and sucrose-reduced diet. Monster waves a mathematical challenge
This article is over 5 years old, and the information may therefore be outdated. For a mathematician, the waves of the sea are related to differential equations, and particularly complex ones at that. Mathematical research can help to improve understanding of how waves form and move – which could be useful, for example, in the work to predict dangerous monster waves. The sunlight glistens on the r

Climate-friendly diet yielded unexpectedly strong nutritional outcomes
That eating plenty of vegetables, wholegrains and legumes is beneficial for health is well known. More surprising, however, is that people who eat in a environmentally-friendly way also display nutritional values that are better than researchers had expected. This is shown in a new study from Lund University. The EAT–Lancet diet is a global dietary guideline developed to promote both human health

Nanowire transistor with integrated memory to enable future supercomputers
For many years, a bottleneck in technological development has been how to get processors and memories to work faster together. Now, researchers at Lund University in Sweden have presented a new solution integrating a memory cell with a processor, which enables much faster calculations, as they happen in the memory circuit itself. In an article in Nature Electronics, the researchers present a new c
