Finding new identity for the shopping malls

We live in a society where online shopping is becoming the most common form of shopping. Companies are investing and growing their online market by offering cheap and quick deliveries, online offers that beat in-store prices and increasing the number of package pick-up locations. We live a faster-paced lifestyle, which makes online shopping more convenient for us. The rapid change in our shopping

Project Anatomic - Equipment for the Modern Sporthorse

The last decades the modern sporthorse have changed a lot, both physically and in temperament. Horses have gotten more athletic, sensitive and faster. Selective breeding, new science findings and more competition, in combination with a role change from workhorse to sporthorse have made this change possible. The idea to investigate and develop horse equipment was initialised during meetings with th

Restitution of neurophysiological functions, performance, and subjective symptoms after moderate insulin-induced hypoglycaemia in non-diabetic men

The restoration of cognitive function was studied in 10 healthy men aged 26 years (25.5 +/- 1.2 years; mean +/- SD) after insulin-induced hypoglycaemia (arterialized blood glucose 2.5 +/- 0.4 mmol l-1) for 62 +/- 8 min. Another group of six men participated in a single blind sham study for comparison. The hypoglycaemic event caused a significant increase (p = 0.006) in serum adrenaline levels. Rat

A 52-week, multicenter, randomized, parallel-group, double-blind, double-dummy study to assess the efficacy of atorvastatin and simvastatin in reaching low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglyceride targets: The treat-to-target (3T) study

Background: Guidelines for the prevention of coronary heart disease call for low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) reduction as the primary target of treatment and reduction of triglycerides (TG) as an additional target. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability of atorvastatin and simvastatin to reduce LDL-C and TG concentrations and to meet 3 target lipid levels:

Transgression for Produce Camp 2021 and Nisu Fans

China, as a huge and promising market, has always been largely exposed to and influenced by the Japanese and Korean idol industries. With various attempts trying to adopt the transnational experienced idol production within the challenging Chinese context, numerous reality television talent shows had been introduced in the past few years. After the very first boy group talent show, Idol Producer (

Influence of the Thermodynamic and Kinetic Control of Self-Assembly on the Microstructure Evolution of Silk-Elastin-Like Recombinamer Hydrogels

Complex recombinant biomaterials that merge the self-assembling properties of different (poly)peptides provide a powerful tool for the achievement of specific structures, such as hydrogel networks, by tuning the thermodynamics and kinetics of the system through a tailored molecular design. In this work, elastin-like (EL) and silk-like (SL) polypeptides are combined to obtain a silk-elastin-like re

KDuring the late middle ages and the early modern times, international trade by sea increased significantly and a gradual change took place in the mercantile trade practice: As the trips became longer, and more time consuming, the merchants (the cargo owners) ceased to travel along with their cargo aboard the ships. The lack of the cargo owner’s presence was replaced by simple transport documents,

CEC's sustainable future As you have been informed in separate mails from Henrik last week and today, there has – in connection with the Science Faculty oversight of CEC – been a discussion about the future leadership at CEC from 1 January 2021. In connection with this, Henrik have been asked to provide a proposal for the structure of CEC’s future leadership, included finding candidates for the po

Mild versus moderate stages of Alzheimer's disease: three-year outcomes in a routine clinical setting of cholinesterase inhibitor therapy.

BACKGROUND: There is an increasing interest in cognitive and functional outcomes in the respective stages of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and in novel therapies particularly for the milder phases of AD. Our aim was to describe and compare various aspects of disease progression in patients with mild versus moderate AD in routine clinical practice of cholinesterase inhibitor (ChEI) therapy. METHODS: Thi

Frequent carbon input primes decomposition of decadal soil organic matter

Soil organic matter (SOM) decomposition in response to global change represents a critical uncertainty in coupled carbon (C) cycle-climate models. Much of this uncertainty arises from our limited mechanistic knowledge of the effects of organic C input frequency on SOM decomposition. Based on a three-source-partitioning isotopic approach (14C glucose addition to soil continuously labeled by C4 plan

Titmice turn on the central heating

Small birds are hot creatures with an average body temperature of 40° Centigrade, and so must burn energy at a formidable rate to stay warm. This becomes quite the challenge in winter when birds are 40-50 degrees warmer than outside for extended periods, even in comparatively mild regions such as Scotland. Thus, the little bird in winter must spend most of the day either feeding or searching for f

Comprehensive and Structured 3-month Stroke Follow-up Using the Post-stroke Checklist (The Struct-FU study) : A Feasibility and Explorative Study

Background: There is recent evidence supporting that a comprehensive post-stroke treatment program improves outcome. However, the prevalence of stroke-related health problems and the extent of needed interventions have not been well-delineated. The Struct-FU study aims to assess the feasibility of a comprehensive stroke follow-up model and to map stroke-related problems and subsequent multidiscipl

Improved glycemic control induced by both metformin and repaglinide is associated with a reduction in blood levels of 3-deoxyglucosone in nonobese patients with type 2 diabetes

Objective: Metformin has been reported to reduce alpha-dicarbonyls, which are known to contribute to diabetic complications. It is unclear whether this is due to direct quenching of alpha-dicarbonyls or to an improvement in glycemic control. We therefore compared the effects of metformin versus repaglinide, an antihyperglycemic agent with an insulin-secreting mechanism, on the levels of the alpha-

Spectroscopic characterization of intermediate steps involved in donor-side-induced photoinhibition of photosystem II

The reaction center protein D1 in photosystem II shows a high turnover during illumination. The degradation of the DI protein is preceded by photoinhibition of the electron transport in photosystem II. There are two distinct mechanisms for this: acceptor-side- and donor-side-induced photoinhibition. Here, donor-side-induced photoinhibition was studied in photosystem II membranes after Cl- depletio

Advancing Basal Insulin Replacement in Type 2 Diabetes Inadequately Controlled With Insulin Glargine Plus Oral Agents: A Comparison of Adding Albiglutide, a Weekly GLP-1 Receptor Agonist, Versus Thrice-Daily Prandial Insulin Lispro.

GLP-1 receptor agonists may provide an alternative to prandial insulin for advancing basal insulin therapy. Harmony 6 was a randomized, open-label, active-controlled trial testing once-weekly albiglutide vs thrice-daily prandial insulin lispro as an add-on to titrated once-daily insulin glargine.RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: Patients taking basal insulin (with or without oral agents) with HbA1c 7-1
