Directional crack growth criteria in compressed elastic-plastic materials are considered. The conditions at the crack tip are evaluated for a straight stationary crack. The aim of this thesis is to study Swedish archaeological finds of aurochs (Bos primigenius) in order to complement the existing knowledge about the aurochs that is based on the sub fossil material.
