We present high-power Yb:YAG lasers combined with nonlinear pulse compression in multi-pass cells. We show that these are suitable for integration in FEL facilities in terms of pulse stability, jitter, temporal contrast and intra-burst behaviour.
The COSHE seminars are a scientific meeting point where invited and internal speakers present research results and questions in an informal setting at COSHE, Computational Science in Health and Environment. The COSHE seminars usually take place on Mondays at 15:00 at Geocentrum I. Occasionally the CEC calendar will give details about dates and speakers.Lund University staff and students can find u

Today's Carrier-Envelope Phase (CEP) stabilizations of mode-locked oscillators widely used in attosecond science and frequency metrology rely on octave spanning frequency combs and the detection of beating between the blue end and the frequency doubled red end of the same spectrum. This technique was established by the seminal works of Hänsch and co-workers [1], demonstrating the stabilization of
Apoptosis is an active process that plays a key role in many physiological and pathological conditions. One of the most important organelles involved in apoptosis regulation is the mitochondrion. An increase in intracellular Ca(2+) is a general mechanism of toxicity in neurons which occurs in response to different noxious stimuli like excitotoxicity and ischemia producing apoptotic and necrotic ce

Cross-culture contamination of cell lines propagated in continuous culture is a frequent event and particularly difficult to resolve in cells expressing similar phenotypes. We demonstrate that DNA-DNA hybridization to blotted endonuclease-digested cell DNA effectively detects cross-culture contamination to monitor inter-species as well as intra-species cross contamination. An insulin-producing cel
The ability of men to remain fertile throughout their lives depends upon establishment of a spermatogonial stem cell (SSC) pool from gonocyte progenitors, and thereafter balancing SSC renewal vs terminal differentiation. Here, we report that precise regulation of the cell cycle is crucial for this balance. Whereas cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (Cdk2) is unnecessary for mouse viability or gametogenesis
