Single nucleotide polymorphism array (SNP-A) analyses are increasingly being introduced in routine genetic diagnostics of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Despite this, only few studies that have compared the diagnostic value of SNP-A with conventional chromosome banding have been published. We here report such a comparison of 296 ALL cases, the largest series to date. Only genomic imbalances >

Integration of non-dispatchable renewable energy sources such as wind and solar into the grid is challenging due to the stochastic nature of energy sources. Hence, electrical hubs (EH) and virtual power plants that combine non-dispatchable energy sources, energy storage and dispatchable energy sources such as internal combustion generators and micro gas turbines are getting popular. However, desig

The increasing pressure of climate change urges state leaders to transform economies to low-carbon alternatives on a local, national and global scale. The aim of this study is to analyze how effective the Climate-Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) strategy has been so far in fostering inclusive rural development in the agricultural sector in Ethiopia, by applying a Triple-Bottom-Line (TBL) approach th

Background: Gene expression has a strong stochastic element resulting in highly variable mRNA levels between individual cells, even in a seemingly homogeneous cell population. Access to fundamental information about cellular mechanisms, such as correlated gene expression, motivates measurements of multiple genes in individual cells. Quantitative reverse transcription PCR ( RT-qPCR) is the most acc

Since the introduction of X-ray holotomography in projection geometry, this modality has proven to be highly effective for practical applications in the 100 nm spatial resolution range. However, one of the main obstacles to its implementation is the difficulty of producing a small focal spot, which determines the resolution of the projection microscope. To address this challenge, we present a simp

Antenna Q optimization by a genetic algorithm with method of moments simulation at a single frequency is described. The optimized antennas may have arbitrary shapes within a rectangular region. Simulations using a commercial tool show good agreement between the predicted and realized Q factor. Furthermore, comparison with the physical bound shows that the optimized antennas perform close to the op

Dessvärre, när de första symptomen väl upptäcks, så har redan 50% av Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease and affects 2% of the population over 65 years of age. The disease is characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons. Over time, symptoms increase and, in particular, lead to a dramatic slowness of movements. Unfortunately, when the fi rst symptoms are discovered, more than 50% of the dopaminergic neurons a

The bone marrow hematopoietic microenvironment (HME) plays a pivotal role in regulating normal and diseased hematopoiesis. However, the spatial organization of the human HME has not been thoroughly investigated yet. Therefore, we developed a three-dimensional (3D) immunofluorescence model to analyze changes in the cellular architecture in control and diseased bone marrows (BMs). BM biopsies from p
