Despite the considerable import of both response probability and response time for testing models of choice there is a dearth of chronometric studies of time- and space-order effects in discrimination of paired visual stimuli. In this study, systematic asymmetries in discriminating the brightness of paired visual stimuli are examined by way of binary response probability scaled in terms of log-odd

The ability to identify craft specialization in the archaeological record has wider ramifications for the study of prehistoric society, since it is apparent that there is a certain relationship between the organization of craft specialization and social complexity. It is fruitful to distinguish among 3 categories here: household production on the one hand, and attached and independent craft specia

Advanced spatial-learning adaptations have been shown for migratory songbirds (1], but it is not well known how the simple genetic program encoding migratory distance and direction in young birds [2-4] translates to a navigation mechanism used by adults [2, 4-6]. A number of convenient cues are available to define latitude on the basis of geomagnetic and celestial information [7-15], but very few

According to the debate on the long-term impact of colonialism, the central concern is the institutions the colonial powers imposed on the colonies. The main line of argument in this paradigm is that such institutions, once jelled, persisted and provide explanations to current-day development success or failure. While this ‘from above’ perspective might be natural and reflect the fact that colonia

EPR spectroscopy has been employed to determine the nature of vanadium (+4) species in the TiO2(B)-supported vanadia catalysts. IR and EPR studies show that multiple vanadia species are observed as a function of loading. At coverages greater than 3.5 theoretical layers, the EPR signal is reminiscent of bulk V205. At lower coverages, a different magnetic species dominates the resonance and may be a

Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) is alternative computational method to the traditional computational fluid dynamic (CFD) methods. LBM has the ability to with straightforward computational procedure to handle the detail activity at microscale well for simulation of different transport processes. In this study the focus is on the effects of electrochemical reactions and transport processes in an anod

Gold nanoelectrodes with gaps of less than 10 nm were formed by conventional E-beam lithography on silicon substrates covered by Al2O3. Molecular films were deposited on the electrodes by Langmuir-Shaefer technique. The I-V curves of such systems show a suppressed conductance indicating a correlated electron tunnelling through the system. All measurements were made at room temperature.
