Implicit påverkan – Kan priming av mångfald ge effekt på social intelligens?

The study aims to investigate whether diversity can affect people's social intelligence. The study has been conducted with an experimental design, where two experimental groups were primed with a text describing a workplace with a high degree of diversity respectively non-diversity. A control-group read a neutral text. The texts were followed by the self-assessment test Tromsö Social Intellige

Cryo-EM structure supports a role of AQP7 as a junction protein

Aquaglyceroporin 7 (AQP7) facilitates glycerol flux across the plasma membrane with a critical physiological role linked to metabolism, obesity, and associated diseases. Here, we present the single-particle cryo-EM structure of AQP7 determined at 2.55 Å resolution adopting two adhering tetramers, stabilized by extracellularly exposed loops, in a configuration like that of the well-characterized in

Smart microscopy: current implementations and a roadmap for interoperability

Smart microscopy is transforming life sciences by automating experimental imaging workflows and enabling real-time adaptation based on feedback from images and other data streams. This shift increases throughput, improves reproducibility, and expands the functional capabilities of microscopes. However, the current landscape is highly fragmented. Academic researchers often develop custom solutions

ECM-Stiffness Mediated Persistent Fibroblast Activation Requires Integrin and Formin Dependent Chromatin Remodeling.

Transient activation of fibroblasts into contractile myofibroblasts is essential for extracellular matrix (ECM) production and remodeling during wound healing and tissue regeneration. While ECM-dependent mechanisms mediating transient activation is well studied, how fibroblasts switch from transient to a persistently activated state and drive fibrosis and aberrant tissue repair in diseases such as

Revisiting the streptococcal M protein : modern perspectives on antibody function, host interactions, and therapeutic targeting

Group A Streptococcus (GAS) causes extensive global morbidity and rising rates of invasive disease, for which clinical outcomes remain poor despite antibiotic treatment of susceptible strains. This limitation of current therapy underscores the need for alternative or adjunctive approaches. Antibody-based interventions represent a promising but underexplored strategy. Historically, the streptococca

Flower color variation in Digitalis purpurea : Pollination and soil influences across native and introduced populations

Premise: Flower color, a key trait influencing plant–pollinator interactions, may be influenced by abiotic factors such as soil. We investigated association between pollinators, soil characteristics, and flower color variations in Digitalis purpurea across native populations in Sweden and introduced populations in Bolivia. Methods: We measured floral traits, reflectance of petals and nectar-guide

Exposure to polystyrene nanoplastics reduces bacterial and fungal biomass in microfabricated soil models

Nanoplastics have been proven to induce toxicity in diverse organisms, yet their effect on soil microbes like bacteria and fungi remains largely unexplored. In this paper, we used micro-engineered soil models to investigate the effect of polystyrene (PS) nanospheres on Pseudomonas putida and Coprinopsis cinerea. Specifically, we explored the effects of increasing concentrations of 60 nm carboxylat

Habitat complexity affects microbial growth in fractal maze

The great variety of earth's microorganisms and their functions are attributed to the heterogeneity of their habitats, but our understanding of the impact of this heterogeneity on microbes is limited at the microscale. In this study, we tested how a gradient of spatial habitat complexity in the form of fractal mazes influenced the growth, substrate degradation, and interactions of the bacterial st

eHealth as an Aid for Facilitating and Supporting Self-Management in Families with Long-Term Childhood Illness; Development, Evaluation, and Implementation in Clinical Practice

Introduction eHealth, defined by WHO as: “the transfer of health resources and healthcare by electronic means” are expected to increase communication between healthcare providers and patients and increase accessibility and patient participation in healthcare. The aim of this research programme is to: 1) develop a sustainable multidisciplinary environment for advancing, evaluating, and implementing

Cellular and biophysical barriers to lipid nanoparticle mediated delivery of RNA to the cytosol

Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are clinically approved for mRNA-based vaccines and liver-targeted siRNA delivery. However, poor nucleic acid delivery efficiency limits their application in extrahepatic tissues and tumors. Here, using live-cell and super-resolution microscopy, we identify multiple distinct steps of inefficiencies in the cytosolic delivery of both siRNA and mRNA cargoes. Membrane damage

Late Medieval Shipboard Artillery on a Northern European Carvel : Gribshunden (1495)

We present the artillery of a well-preserved late medieval Danish-Norwegian carvel warship, Gribshunden. Probably built in the Netherlands in 1484, the ship served King Hans until sinking in June 1495. Of its original 50 or more guns, elements of 11 have been recovered and digitally recreated, and more remain on the wreck. Investigation of this site provides insights into the development of shipboWe present the artillery of a well-preserved late medieval Danish-Norwegian carvel warship, Gribshunden. Acoustophoresis-based blood sampling and plasma separation for potentially minimizing sampling-related blood loss

ObjectivesFrequent blood sampling in vulnerable patient groups, such as prematurely born infants, can lead to significant blood loss and increased transfusion needs. Current pre-analytical technology requires comparably large blood volumes and leads to discarding of cells. This study investigates a device prototype enabling in-line sampling where cell-reduced plasma for clinical chemistry analyses

Plasma 25-Hydroxyvitamin D Levels and Survival in Stage III Colon Cancer : Findings from CALGB/SWOG 80702 (Alliance)

PURPOSE: To assess whether higher plasma 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] is associated with improved outcomes in colon cancer and whether circulating inflammatory cytokines mediate such association.EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN: Plasma samples were collected from 1,437 patients with stage III colon cancer enrolled in a phase III randomized clinical trial (CALGB/SWOG 80702) from 2010 to 2015, who were followed

Performance of Ultrasound in the Diagnosis of Gout in a Multicenter Study : Comparison With Monosodium Urate Monohydrate Crystal Analysis as the Gold Standard

Objective: To examine the performance of ultrasound (US) for the diagnosis of gout using the presence of monosodium urate monohydrate (MSU) crystals as the gold standard. Methods: We analyzed data from the Study for Updated Gout Classification Criteria (SUGAR), a large, multicenter observational cross-sectional study of consecutive subjects with at least 1 swollen joint who conceivably may have go
