Trade in the Carbon-Constrained Future: Exploiting the Comparative Carbon Advantage of Swedish Trade
This paper introduces a new concept of comparative carbon advantage as a potential climate mitigation tool. According to the concept, welfare gains in terms of reduced global CO2 emissions can be achieved by exploiting cross-country sectoral differences in carbon intensity and decarbonized electricity system. The paper empirically tests the concept by utilizing annual data of Sweden between 1995 a

By definition, radiofrequency (RF) pulses are the pivotal elements of NMR pulse sequences. Vice versa, the effect of a particular pulse on the evolution of magnetization will depend on the context of the sequence. While the product operator formalism provides a general framework to describe the effect of hard pulses on weakly coupled spin systems, there is no consistent framework describing the ef
Onset of high-spin rotational bands in the N=Z nucleus 62Ga
The fusion-evaporation reaction 28Si + 40Ca at 122 MeV beam energy was used to populate high-spin states in the odd-odd N = Z nucleus 62Ga. With the combination of the Gammasphere spectrometer and the Microball CsI(Tl) charged-particle detector array the decay scheme of 62Ga was extended beyond 10 MeV excitation energy. The onset of band structures was observed. These high-spin rotational states a
Probing the transition from hydrophilic to hydrophobic solvation with atomic scale resolution
We use ultrafast x-ray absorption spectroscopy to determine the solvent structure change upon laser abstraction of the electron from I. The transition from hydrophilic to hydrophobic occurs over 4 ps during which a transient I-OH2 species is formed.
Impurity-localized electronic changes in Eu:SrGa2S4 Studied by Ultrafast X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy
The time-dependent electronic structure of Eu:SrGa2S4 after excitation by a femtosecond laser pulse is investigated by time-resolved x-ray absorption spectroscopy. We observe a transient shift in the Eu L3 edge consistent with Eu ionization.
Personal History of Diabetes as Important as Family History of Colorectal Cancer for Risk of Colorectal Cancer : A Nationwide Cohort Study
INTRODUCTION: Diabetes mellitus (DM) and colorectal cancer (CRC) share some risk factors, including lifestyle and metabolic disturbances. We aimed to provide in-depth information on the association of CRC risk, especially early-onset CRC, with DM, family history of CRC, and age at DM diagnosis. METHODS: A nationwide cohort study was conducted using Swedish family cancer data sets, inpatient, and o
Association Analysis of Driver Gene-Related Genetic Variants Identified Novel Lung Cancer Susceptibility Loci with 20,871 Lung Cancer Cases and 15,971 Controls
BACKGROUND: A substantial proportion of cancer driver genes (CDG) are also cancer predisposition genes. However, the associations between genetic variants in lung CDGs and the susceptibility to lung cancer have rarely been investigated. METHODS: We selected expression-related single-nucleotide polymorphisms (eSNP) and nonsynonymous variants of lung CDGs, and tested their associations with lung can

The COronavirus Pandemic Epidemiology (COPE) Consortium: A Call to Action
The rapid pace of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2; COVID-19) pandemic presents challenges to the real-time collection of population-scale data to inform near-term public health needs as well as future investigations. We established the COronavirus Pandemic Epidemiology (COPE) consortium to address this unprecedented crisis on behalf of the epidemiology research comm

Discovery of 318 new risk loci for type 2 diabetes and related vascular outcomes among 1.4 million participants in a multi-ancestry meta-analysis
We investigated type 2 diabetes (T2D) genetic susceptibility via multi-ancestry meta-analysis of 228,499 cases and 1,178,783 controls in the Million Veteran Program (MVP), DIAMANTE, Biobank Japan and other studies. We report 568 associations, including 286 autosomal, 7 X-chromosomal and 25 identified in ancestry-specific analyses that were previously unreported. Transcriptome-wide association anal
Livestock owners' worry and fear of tick-borne diseases
BACKGROUND: Recent global changes have led to an increase in distribution of ticks towards higher elevation and latitude in Europe and livestock are at increasing risk of contracting tick-borne diseases, but psychological aspects of how this affects human well-being are rarely assessed. Departing from the theory on emotional appraisal coming from psychology, this study investigates which factors t
