During 2015, in Svensk Juristtidning, one specific question has triggered debate: the question of what value – the penal value or the ‘meting out of punishment value’ – should constitute the starting point for the choice of sanction. The same question and debate served as source of inspiration for the subject of this thesis. The purpose of this thesis is to examine and elucidate Chapter 29 of the

Fenomenet har varit föremål förThe criminalization of child pornography has been discussed and criticized since its incorporation for not being precise and for limiting fundamental rights. In 2022 the discussion arose again after the identification of a new crime phenomenon; young people sharing child pornography without a sexual purpose. The new phenomenon has been subject to trail in at least 3 decisions in district court. Th

The Effect of Barriers to Entry on the Concept of Market Power under Article 82

The main instrument to combat the abuse of a dominant position within the European Union is Article 82 ECT. It is not intended to prohibit dominance per se, but rather to offer a vehicle for the reaction to actual or potential abuses of undertakings. In order for the Article to come into play the prime requirement is that the undertaking undergoing scrutiny is indeed dominant. Dominance is a relat

BIM Anatomy II: Standardisation Needs & Support Systems

This thesis presents the results of an investigation into BIM standardisation needs and procedural supporting mechanisms that may enable design, construction and operating (DCO) organisations to advance their deployment of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology, and improve construction project outcomes. To achieve sustainable development requires effective information management. Buildi

Samma eller likartad verksamhet - En studie över bestämmelsen i 57 kap. 4 § 1 st. 1 p. IL

Bestämmelserna infördes framförallt för att undvika att den fördelning av arbetsinkomster och kapitalinkomster valdes, som varThe closely held company rules is a very complicated set of rules that has been constantly discussed, criticized and under development. Tax rules that regulated situations in companies with one or only a few owners were first introduced in 1976. The rules were introduced to avoid that the division of labour income and capital income was chosen that was the most advantageous from a tax perspective

Place Attachment and Climate-Related Hazards in Small Remote Communities in the Nordic Countries

Global climate change is characterized by increasing and differentiated exposure to climate-related hazards such as floods, landslides, avalanches, storms, and wildfires (IPCC 2018, 2022). There is a significant volume of research on the effects of such events, and over the last decade, much of this research has been directed at where most lives and values can be saved by protective measures (e.g.

Renaissance of a CRM system – Successful re-implementation out of an after market perspective

Problem: Today Frigoscandia Equipment Europe, FSEE, is not sure how their CRM-system, MSMS, is used along with other solutions at the different regions throughout Europe. The company is interested in a usage evaluation describing by who and how the system is used. FSEE is also concerned about the users opinions of future development and improvements. Management is also concerned about how MSMS wou

Automatic identification of poorly performing substations and meter devices : The future of district heating

The district heating sector in Sweden is today facing several challenges due to competition from other heating alternativesas well as decreasing heat demand in buildings. To increase its competitiveness, the district heating companieshave to find ways to keep their production costs at a more or less constant level. One way of doing this is to increasethe efficiency of the district heating systems.

Geometrical controls on spectral induced polarization in time and frequency domain

What can we learn by transmitting electrical currents through electrodes in the ground? Geophysical methods can help us to locate the bedrock, valuable mineral ores, remains of ancient buildings and many other secrets hiding below the surface. However, it is not only the universal interest for the unknown that drives the geophysical research forward. Knowledge of, for example, fractured bedrock, c

LRP10 genetic variants in familial Parkinson's disease and dementia with Lewy bodies : a genome-wide linkage and sequencing study

Background: Most patients with Parkinson's disease, Parkinson's disease dementia, and dementia with Lewy bodies do not carry mutations in known disease-causing genes. The aim of this study was to identify a novel gene implicated in the development of these disorders. Methods: Our study was done in three stages. First, we did genome-wide linkage analysis of an Italian family with dominantly inherit

What Encourages Academic Staff to Engage in Systematic, Sustained Change in Teaching Practices?

Representing an international, multi-institutional research team, the panel presents a theoretical framework for understanding what prompts academic staff/faculty to change towards sustained use of pedagogies that make a meaningful difference in student learning. The theory grows out of a synthesis of literature on: the role of leadership and resources in emerging changes to teaching practices (Gi

Voicing on the borders of language

My research engages with the varieties of relationship between verbal and non-verbal forms of language and communication. I approach the issue through three people who live or work with non-verbal people on the autistic spectrum: Phoebe Caldwell, Fernand Deligny and Iris Johansson. Their practices bring singular perspectives to my core question: How can we (re)conceive and engage with non-verbal f

Human enteroviral infection impairs autophagy in clonal INS(832/13) cells and human pancreatic islet cells

Aim/hypothesis: Human enteroviral infections are suggested to be associated with type 1 diabetes. However, the mechanism by which enteroviruses can trigger disease remains unknown. The present study aims to investigate the impact of enterovirus on autophagy, a cellular process that regulates beta cell homeostasis, using the clonal beta cell line INS(832/13) and human islet cells as in vitro models
