Design and development of a mobile GIS application for municipal field work
Health and safety management of hand-arm vibration : preconditions and outcomes
The overall aim of the research presented in this thesis was to gain increased knowledge and understanding of aspects and actors that contribute to the preconditions and outcomes for proactive health and safety managementregarding vibration exposure. The main objectives were: 1) to investigate carpenters´ perceptions of the proactive health and safety management at their work sites, and 2) to carr
Queer as a City : Unsettling coherence in 'sustainable urban development'
Hållbar stadsutveckling beskrivs i avhandlingen som en typologi avArchitecture, planning and urban design are some of the professional practices that contribute to the spatial aspects of societal organization and enable everyday life to run smoothly. The urgent and intertwined challenges of climate change and social injustice have introduced new dimensions to these tasks, frequently framed as working towards ‘sustainable development.’ In this doctoral thesis, I
Risk of recurrence in high-risk T1 colon cancer following endoscopic and surgical resection : registry-based cohort study
Long-Term Clinical Outcomes After IFR- vs FFR-Guided Coronary Revascularization : Insights From the SWEDEHEART National Registry
Background: Long-term data on safety and efficacy of instantaneous wave-free ratio (IFR) vs fractional flow reserve (FFR) in guiding percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is lacking. Objectives: This study sought to evaluate the 5-year clinical outcomes of IFR- vs FFR-guided PCI in a real-world setting. Methods: We assessed the 5-year outcomes of all patients undergoing IFR or FFR assessment be
Treating shock with norepinephrine administered in midline catheters in an intermediary care unit : A retrospective cohort study
Objectives A rising incidence of septic shock as well as recommendations for early vasopressor initiation has increased the number of patients eligible for norepinephrine (NE). Traditionally, NE has been administered through central lines, in intensive care units, due to the risk of extravasation in peripheral lines. The aim of the current study is to determine the rate of complications and patien
Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) and Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery (CANTAB) as Objective Support in Diagnosing Childhood ADHD and ASD
AbstractBackgroundThere is a need for easily administered objective tests in neurodevelopmental disorders. We investigated the clinical utility for child and adolescent psychiatry of Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) and Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery (CANTAB) as support in diagnosing attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). MethodsTh
'May contain traces of' : An ethnographic study of eating communities and the gluten free diet
Changes to the contemporary food system, including meals and eating patterns, have occurred quickly. One such change over the past 30 years has been the increase of commercially produced foods aimed at food allergies and intolerances and ‘free from’ dieting. The gluten free diet has recently emerged as a popular diet trend in Western countries, outpacing its origins as a treatment for celiac disea
Tangible participation - Engaging designs and design engagements in pedagogical praxes
This dissertation contributes to three fields within design research: - Explorations of a design space related to aesthetics of Tangible Interaction, which have led to a set of design imaginations as well as perspectives on salient design qualities. - Views on and a designerly example of knowledge construction related to Research through Design as well as to programmatic approaches to design resea
Preschoolers' peer competence : Developmental perspectives on prosocial behavior, aggression, and social cognition
This doctoral thesis explored three broad aspects of preschoolers’ social competence: prosocial behavior, aggression, and social cognition. The longitudinal study followed forty-four children (initially 22-40 months), who were observed in natural peer interactions at their daycare centers during a two-month period in each of three con-secutive years. In addition, social-cognitive data were gathere

In this thesis a pattern of coherence is explored in August Strindberg’s Zones of the Spirit (En blå bok) – a literary work consisting of a collection of short and quite div
Does pregnancy complication history improve cardiovascular disease risk prediction? : Findings from the HUNT study in Norway
Aim: To evaluate whether history of pregnancy complications [pre-eclampsia, gestational hypertension, preterm delivery, or small for gestational age (SGA)] improves risk prediction for cardiovascular disease (CVD).Methods and results: This population-based, prospective cohort study linked data from the HUNT Study, Medical Birth Registry of Norway, validated hospital records, and Norwegian Cause of
Familial Associations of Colon and Rectal Cancers With Other Cancers
BACKGROUND: Many studies have indicated that colon and rectal cancers differ in etiology and histology. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate whether the associations of colon and rectal cancers with any other (discordant) cancer were site specific. DESIGN: A novel approach was implemented in which cancer risks were analyzed in families with increasing numbers of family members diagn
Prespecified 4-Kallikrein Marker Model at Age 50 or 60 for Early Detection of Lethal Prostate Cancer in a Large Population Based Cohort of Asymptomatic Men Followed for 20 Years
PURPOSE: A prespecified statistical model based on 4 kallikrein markers in blood, commercially available as the 4Kscore®, has been shown to accurately detect high grade (greater than Grade Group 2) prostate cancer in men with moderately elevated prostate specific antigen. We assessed whether the model predicted prostate cancer metastasis or death in men not subject to prostate specific antigen scr
Forest floor fluxes drive differences in the carbon balance of contrasting boreal forest stands
The forest floor provides an important interface of soil-atmosphere CO2 exchanges but their controls and contributions to the ecosystem-scale carbon budget are uncertain due to measurement limitations. In this study, we deployed eddy covariance systems below- and above-canopy to measure the spatially integrated net forest floor CO2 exchange (NFFE) and the entire net ecosystem CO2 exchange (NEE) at
Balancing health benefits and social sacrifices: A qualitative study of how screening-detected celiac disease impacts adolescents' quality of life
Background: Celiac disease often goes undiagnosed. Mass screening might be an option to reduce the public health burden of untreated celiac disease. However, mass screening is still controversial since it is uncertain whether the benefits of early detection outweigh the possible negative consequences. Before implementation of screening programs, the experiences of those being identified as cases s
Moisture Conditions and Frost Resistance of Concrete in Hydraulic Structures
Fibromodulin and Dystrophin in Atherosclerosis: Novel roles for extracellular matrix in plaque development
Cardiovascular disease represents nearly half the cases of noncommunicable diseases worldwide and is the leading global cause of death. The main underlying cause is atherosclerosis, and in atherosclerotic plaque progression the structure, composition and integrity of a dynamic extracellular matrix (ECM) is one very important factor. This thesis discusses the importance of the connection between th
