26 delta

Difficulties being green? Investigating Green IT in IT consultant companies

This study focuses on the topic of Green IT in the IT consultant industry. Green IT is currently a hot topic but while awareness and established policies has increased in the last years, studies show that few companies are actually following their procedures or have goals or ways of measuring the effects of their green initiatives. The research area of Green IT is limited in terms of empirically f

Aktionsforskning i samhällsarbete

The purpose was to examine action research in order to see if this form of research could be used in the work of the council Södra Innerstaden to describe and map the livingarea Södra Sofielund/Seved together with the people living in the area. Questions asked was: What is action research? How could an action research project be done in the work of Södra Innerstaden to describe and map the livinga

The burden of rheumatoid arthritis and access to treatment: uptake of new therapies

This paper presents data on international differences in use of TNF inhibitors. It is part of a study on burden and cost of RA, access to new therapies and the role of HTA in determining access and cost-effectiveness. United States has the fastest most extensive use of the new drugs, about three times the average in the western European countries and Canada. Eastern and central European countries

Methane exchange in a boreal forest estimated by gradient method

Forests are generally considered to be net sinks of atmospheric methane (CH4) because of oxidation by methanotrophic bacteria in well-aerated forests soils. However, emissions from wet forest soils, and sometimes canopy fluxes, are often neglected when quantifying the CH4 budget of a forest. We used a modified Bowen ratio method and combined eddy covariance and gradient methods to estimate net CH4

Identification of heart rate-associated loci and their effects on cardiac conduction and rhythm disorders

Elevated resting heart rate is associated with greater risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality. In a 2-stage meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies in up to 181,171 individuals, we identified 14 new loci associated with heart rate and confirmed associations with all 7 previously established loci. Experimental downregulation of gene expression in Drosophila melanogaster and Danio rer

Calcium Current Inactivation Rather than Pool Depletion Explains Reduced Exocytotic Rate with Prolonged Stimulation in Insulin-Secreting INS-1 832/13 Cells.

Impairment in beta-cell exocytosis is associated with reduced insulin secretion and diabetes. Here we aimed to investigate the dynamics of Ca2+-dependent insulin exocytosis with respect to pool depletion and Ca2+-current inactivation. We studied exocytosis, measured as increase in membrane capacitance (ΔCm), as a function of calcium entry (Q) in insulin secreting INS-1 832/13 cells using patch cla

Common variants associated with plasma triglycerides and risk for coronary artery disease

Triglycerides are transported in plasma by specific triglyceride-rich lipoproteins; in epidemiological studies, increased triglyceride levels correlate with higher risk for coronary artery disease (CAD). However, it is unclear whether this association reflects causal processes. We used 185 common variants recently mapped for plasma lipids (P < 5 x 10(-8) for each) to examine the role of triglyceri
