The history in epidemiology
In thinking of the history of epidemiology, the map usually comes to mind before the calendar or the clock. During the nineteenth century, the study of the pattern and distribution of disease commonly suggested a terrain, a spatial ordering, that might align with environmental hazards, or later, with bacteriological threats.
