Brownlielloideae, a new subfamily in the Teloschistaceae (Lecanoromycetes, Ascomycotina)

Brownlielloideae, a new subfamily in the Teloschistaceae, is proposed based on phylogenetic analyses of nuclear ribosomal DNA and 12S SSU mitochondrial DNA sequences. The data indicates that the new subfamily includes eight genera, i.e. Brownliella, Marchantiana and six new genera proposed here, Lazarenkoella, Raesaeneniana, Streimanniella, Tarasginia, Tayloriella and Thelliana. Lecanora kobeana N

Analysis of Linear L1 Adaptive Control Architectures for Aerospace Applications

In some situations the closed-loop system obtained by L1 adaptive control is equivalent to linear systems. The architectures of these systems are investigated and compared with internal model control and the input observer architecture. The analysis is focused on aerospace application. An effort has been made to understand and describe what fundamental control characteristic of flying applications

Identification and qualitative characterization of high and low lignin lines from an oat TILLING population

To identify differences in seed lignin content, 520 randomly chosen independent lines were screened in mutagenized oat population and lines with the seed lignin levels ranging from 20 to 63 gkg(-1) were identified. In the commercial variety Belinda, from which the mutated population was developed, seed lignin level was determined to be 41 g kg(-1). In Assiniboia, a Canadian low lignin variety, it

Treatment of Popliteal Aneurysm by Open and Endovascular Surgery: A Contemporary Study of 592 Procedures in Sweden

WHAT THIS STUDY ADDS Previous comparisons between open and endovascular repair of popliteal aneurysms have focused on asymptomatic patients, and have short follow up. This study is strengthened by the fact that it is contemporary, population based, without any selection bias, reporting on all kinds of presentations, and has approximately 90% 1 year follow up data. It shows that endovascular repair

gamma (1S+2S+3S) production in d plus Au and p plus p collisions at root s(NN)=200 GeV and cold-nuclear-matter effects

The three gamma states, gamma (1S + 2S + 3S), are measured in d + Au and p + p collisions at root s(NN) = 200 GeV and rapidities 1.2 < vertical bar y vertical bar < 2.2 by the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Cross sections for the inclusive gamma (1S + 2S + 3S) production are obtained. The inclusive yields per binary collision for d + Au collisions relative to those in p

Accumulation of Intraneuronal beta-Amyloid 42 Peptides Is Associated with Early Changes in Microtubule-Associated Protein 2 in Neurites and Synapses

Pathologic aggregation of beta-amyloid (A beta) peptide and the axonal microtubule-associated protein tau protein are hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Evidence supports that A beta peptide accumulation precedes microtubule-related pathology, although the link between A beta and tau remains unclear. We previously provided evidence for early co-localization of A beta 42 peptides and hyperphosp

Serum thymidine kinase activity compared with CA 15-3 in locally advanced and metastatic breast cancer within a randomized trial

The primary objective was to estimate serum thymidine kinase 1 (TK1) activity, reflecting total body cell proliferation rate including cancer cell proliferation, in women with loco regional inoperable or metastatic breast cancer participating in a prospective and randomized study. Secondary objectives were to analyze TK1 in relation to progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), therap

Localization of embedded inclusions using detection of fluorescence: Feasibility study based on simulation data, LS-SVM modeling and EPO pre-processing

Fluorescence spectroscopy is a useful technique for tissue diagnostics and is also a promising tool in the characterization of embedded structures in tissue. The emitted fluorescence from an embedded inclusion, marked with a fluorescent compound, is affected by several factors as the light propagates through the medium to the tissue boundary, where the fluorescence light is detected. Tissue absorp

Upplevelsens poetik : slöjdseminariet på Nääs 1880–1940

This dissertation examines aspects of the experience of being a student at Nääs’ sloydseminar between 1880 and 1940 and what consequences it had for the participants. The experience was more or less consciously constructed by the charismatic leader Otto Salomon and after his death in 1907 the responsability of ”composing” the experience was put on Rurik Holm, pedagogical manager between 1913 and 1

Highly efficient enzymatic biodiesel production promoted by particle-induced emulsification.

At present, the conversion of oils to biodiesel is predominantly carried out using chemical catalysts. However, the corresponding lipase-catalysed process has important advantages, which include mild reaction conditions and the possibility of using cheap, low quality feedstocks with a high free fatty acid content. Further increases in the efficiency of the enzymatic process are desired to make it

Perception of occupational balance by people with mental illness: A new methodology.

Aims The aims were to (i) investigate initial construct validity of a tool for assessment of time allocation in occupational balance, and (ii) describe perceived occupational balance and its relationship with socio-demographics, well-being, and personal recovery among people with mental illness. Methods Satisfaction with Daily Occupations and Occupational Balance (SDO-OB) was administered to 226 p

Varför läsa litteratur – i Ryssland? Legitimeringar i ryska styrdokument

Toward Highlighting the Ultrafast Electron Transfer Dynamics at the Optically Dark Sites of Photocatalysts

Building a detailed understanding of the structure function relationship is a crucial step in the optimization of molecular photocatalysts employed in water splitting schemes. The optically dark nature of their active sites usually prevents a complete mapping of the photoinduced dynamics. In this work, transient X-ray absorption spectroscopy highlights the electronic and geometric changes that aff
