Petersén appointed Senior Lecturer in Neuroscience at Lund University

Petersén begins her tenured faculty position as Senior Lecturer (universitetslektor) in medical research with specialization in Neuroscience at the Medical Faculty of Lund University in November 2012 after three years with a position as senior researcher (forskaretjänst) in psychiatry at 50% appointed by the Swedish Research Council.

PhD student Sofia Hult Lundh received a prestigious stipend from the Swedish Lundbeckfoundation

Congratulations to Sofia Hult Lundh who received one of the five stipends of 2012 from the Swedish Lundbeckfoundation at a ceremony at Trolleholm castle on the 17th of January 2012. The stipend will be used to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying depressive- and anxiety-like features in mice with Huntington's disease.

TNU welcomes Dr. Rachel Cheong to the group

Dr Rachel Cheong starts a postdoctoral fellowship in TNU 1st of February 2013. Dr Cheong is from Singapore and has a PhD in Neuroscience from University of Otago, New Zealand. Her PhD thesis was entitled Effects of estradiol on gonadotropin-releasing hormone neurons. In Lund she will investigate the role of hypothalamic dysfunction for non-motor aspects of Huntington's disease.

TNU welcomes Max!

Maximilian Tufvesson Alm is a Bachelor student in Biomedicine at Lund University who has recently joined the lab to work with us on a research project for his bachelor thesis, supervised by Dr Barbara Baldo. After the completion of this achievement Max will continue in the group for eight more weeks for a summer research project with a stipend received from the Medical Faculty.

HDYO visited TNU to film a lab tour about our HD research

A team from HDYO (Huntington's disease youth organisation) visited TNU on May 24 2013. The filming project involved touring the HD research lab in Lund, meeting researchers and seeing what they are doing in the lab. TNU presents research at the Gordon Research Conference in Waterville Valley, USA

The Gordon Research Conference, GRC, on CAG Triplet Repeat Disorders took place in Waterville Valley June 23-28 2013. Petersén was invited to give a talk and Baldo, Gabery and Soylu presented posters. Also, Soylu was selected to give a talk about her work at the Gordon Research Seminars just before the GRC.

Petersen and Gabery give talks at summer camp for HD families in Båstad

The national patient organisation for HD with Carina Hvalstedt organised a camp for families with HD in Båstad in July 2013. First PhD thesis from TNU has been traditionally nailed on May 7

Sofia Hult Lundh is the first PhD student from TNU who will defend her thesis.
