Globalization of Corporate Governance: The American Influence on Dismissal Performance Sensitivity of European CEOs

This study examines how globalization of corporate governance practices influence the risk of European CEOs being dismissed. We argue that the harsh monitoring of the American corporate governance system spills over to the rest of the world as a result of this globalization. We focus on direct and indirect American influence on the dismissal performance sensitivity among the 250 largest European p

Performance measurements and modeling of database servers

In this paper we present some experiments on the MySQL database server. The objective of the experiments was to investigate the high load dynamics for varying relation sizes and requests. We show that the dynamics for SELECT (read) requests can be modeled as a modified M/M/1 system, whereas, the dynamics for UPDATE (write) are completely different. Our results can be used for designing control and

Commercialism and decentralisation for broader engagement in the arts: new directions in Swedish cultural policy since 2009

In 2009 the conservative Swedish government launched a new cultural policy proposition emphasising broader engagement in the arts both consumption-wise, politically and economically. This proposition and two specific elements of it will be discussed in this paper; the cooperation and consultation model of distribution of state support to regional culture and schemes for stimulating broadened, i.e.

On the evaluation of impedance matrix terms in MoM: emphasis on capacitive couplings

A method based on power series expansions of the surface charge density, with Legendre polynomials as basis functions, is introduced in this paper. With a Galerkin method, applied to the method of moment, the resulting integrals for the elements of the impedance matrix are four dimensional. The corresponding integrands are products of the static Green function and Legendre polynomials. The introdu

Modality in Japanese

This thesis offers a detailed structural account of a full range of grammatical markers available for the expression of modality in Japanese. Twenty modal expressions are systematically analyzed in the context of a Western typological approach, with special attention being paid to the issue of subjectivity, in the spirit of the indigenous grammatical tradition. The approach is a distributional one
