Training in Laboratory Animal Science
The Faculty of Medicine is tasked with providing training in Laboratory Animal Science (LAS).In order to gain access to an animal facility and to manage laboratory animals on your own, you must undergo and complete relevant animal-specific training courses. The courses have theoretical and practical components, and aim to provide basic theoretical knowledge and in most cases an introduction to pra

NanoLund: A Great Place to do Nanoscience
We strive to be an international, highly visible nanoscience center that offers exceptional scientific opportunities, training, and career development. We do this through a strong culture of openness and by offering access to an incredibly wide range of capabilities within characterization, fabrication and modelling. This is the place to be. Our research environmentNanoLund is built on a high degr

Invoice management
All supplier invoices sent to Lund University are processed in Proceedo (formerly also called Lupin). As the orderer, you are responsible for processing your invoice on time. This page provides information on how to process supplier invoices. An invoice comes to you for review when you have made an order and the supplier has sent an invoice for your purchase. If your name is on the invoice, it goe

Explorations in Cognitive Robotics
We describe a number of research projects at Lund Univer- sity Cognitive Science. The first project focuses on visual attention. The second area is haptic perceptions by robots. The third area is anticipation in groups of robots. The final research area concerns building computa- tional tools that can be used to design large-scale cognitive models which will ultimately allow results from the diffe
On Sustainability in Local Energy Planning
Popular Abstract in English Human life in general, depends on having access to useable forms of energy for meeting the basic needs such as preparation of food and provision a comfortable place to live. Energy is also necessary for running the societal services for instance, transportation, health care and education. It is important to know what energy resources are available, how much energy is nEnergy is among the main driving forces needed for sustainable development. Provision of energy services, from the supply side to transmission/distribution and use, must include management, and good management requires tools. Energy planning is a tool for managing the community energy system through assessing and balancing supply and demand. This thesis explains an approach to energy planning whic

Bit-Serial Approach Moves DT-CNN into Real-Time
The Cellular Neural Network provides an interesting template for non-linear signal processing. It is essentially based on 2nd-order (reaction / diffusion) differential equations. Harrer and Nossek have introduced the discrete-time equivalent that paves the ground for digital implementation. The interconnect requirements seem to have made it impossible to realistically implement this model. More th
Alignment Deviations on a Lead Crowned Helical Gear Manufactured by a Hob
Gear hobbing is well established and one of the most cost effective manufacturing methods of involute gears. In the hobbing of lead crown corrected helical gears, a well know drawback is the non-uniform systematic tooth alignment deviation that arises. This is sometimes denoted as flank twist. The inevitable tooth alignment deviation, together with other source deviations, must not exceed the spec

Impact of DSL link impairments on higher layer QoS parameters
An increasing demand from e.g. real-time multimedia applications (IPTV, OTT) adds strains on especially DSL based access links. In this paper we argue why it is important to study DSL link impairments and their impact on QoS parameters on higher layers. We discuss the need for establishing methods for quality of service estimation with cross layer techniques and present some initial results.

Induction heating of carbon fiber structures - properties and challenges
Carbon fiber reinforced plastic is constantly gaining market shares due to its unique properties. By heating this kind of materials using induction, many new applications occur. The high resistivity and anisotropic properties of carbon fiber composites means there are a number of challenges to overcome. This work emphasizes the key components related to induction heating of complex materials and p
Labraunda 2012-2013
This article is divided into two parts. In the first part, preliminary reports on the archaeological work conducted at the sanctuary during the years 2012 and 2013 is presented, and in the second part, two conservation projects are discussed. The first part includes a description of the excavations at the Split Rock by Lars Karlsson, an account of the excavations on the slope of the Monumental Tom
Earwitnesses: The effect of voice differences in identification accuracy and the realism in confidence judgments
Individual characteristic features in voice and speech are important in ear witness identification. A target-absent lineup with six foils was used to analyze the influence of voice and speech features on recognition. The participants’ response for two voice foils were particularly successful in the sense that they were most often rejected. These voice foils were characterized by the features’ arti
Forecasting Swedish Stock Market Volatility and Value-at-Risk: A Comparison of EWMA and GARCH Models
In this study we compare different volatility models on their ability to forecast one day ahead volatility and value-at-risk (VaR). We compare five different GARCH specifications: GARCH, IGARCH, GJR-GARCH, EGARCH and APARCH, as well as EWMA, each paired with six different conditional distributions. These models are used to forecast volatility and VaR one day ahead using daily return data from the
Boosting Growth in Crisis: Evaluating the Role of Fiscal Stimulus in Sweden’s Pandemic Recovery
The Covid-19 crisis presents an opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of fiscal policy by investigating how fiscal stimuli aided recovery from the pandemic in Sweden. As Covid-19 have led to increased concerns of unsustainable debt levels, questions of how government spending has affected the economic rebound and fiscal sustainability arises. To tackle these questions, I evaluate pre-existing

Men även om fotonens resa slutar i ditt öga, så färdas informationen vidare till din hjärna.I denna visning utforskar Follow the journey of a single photon as it is produced in a distant star, before travelling across the vast expanse of space to land on someone's retina. This fulldome planetarium show explores some of the fascinating processes of the cosmos, from astrophysics to the biology of the eye and brain.
