The EU’s Digital Package: Striking a Balance for Fundamental Rights in the DSA and DMA Regulations

This paper discusses the role of fundamental rights in the EU’s legislation on digitalisation, with a particular focus on the proposed Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA). As the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights is receiving an increasingly prominent role in regulating the digital sphere in order to rectify the increasing challenges of a ‘wild West’ internet, the constitut

Monte Carlo Simulations of Production Costs in Discrete Part Manufacturing

When calculating the production costs input data can vary considerably inquality between different cases. When costs pertain from products, which are already in production, complete and reliable data may already be available. For new products, new production systems or new production technology it might be hard to find applicable and reliable data. The cost and performance parameters needed can th

Thermodynamics of Protein Folding and Design

The protein folding and protein design problems are addressed, using coarse-grained models with only two types of amino acids, hydrophobic and hydrophilic. In addition to hydrophobicity forces, the models contain sequence-independent local interactions which are found to strongly influence the thermodynamics of these models. The models are studied using the dynamical-parameter Monte Carlo method.

Modeling of Protein Folding and Genetic Networks

Models for potein folding are developed and applied to peptides and small proteins with both α-helix and β-sheet structure. The energy functions, in which effective hydrophobicity forces and hydrogen bonds are taken to be the two central terms, are sequence-based and deliberately kept simple. The geometric representations of the protein chains are, by contrast, detailed and have torsion angles as

Bilden av den "hotfulla ungdomen" : Om ungdomsproblem och fastställandet och upprätthållandet av samhällets moraliska gränser

The main aim of my dissertation is to investigate som conceptions, power relations, and practices in the discourse of youth problems. I have studied some of the actors that are involved in the social constructing of the "juvenile delinquent" such as the police, the judical system, the social service, the media, the general public and last but not least, the young people themselves. The bulk of my

Soluble and Plant Available Phosphorus in Acid Soils

The P availability and solubility differ between soils and plants seem to have different ways of utilising the P present. The many P fractions present in soil interact and are closely related to another and transformations may easily occur. Due to this more P than the soluble fraction is available to plants. Different plant species utilise the P in soil differently; the relationship between the pl

Strategi och kompetensdynamik : en studie i Axis Communications

The purpose of this thesis is to introduce the concept of distinctive competence in a multi-theoretical setting, consisting of the resource-based view, strategic human resource management and organizational learning, in order to develop a theoretical framework for better understanding of the dynamic side of distinctive competence. The empirical part of the study consists of an in-depth case study

Bebyggelsens mångfald. En studie av södra Hallands järnåldersgårdar baserad på arkeologiska och historiska källor

The aim of the dissertation is to elucidate Iron Age settlement in southern Halland from two angles: (1) the evidence of antiquities (graves), ground finds of metal and rock, and place-names; (2) the information conveyed by investigations in settlement archaeology. The combined study of graves, ground finds, and place-names shows that the image of southern Halland in the Iron Age differs depending

A Feudal Way to Gentrify? The current understanding of gentrification and changes of social-topography in a medieval and early modern town

Gentrification is a current and often debated concept that concerns social changes in our cities. The concept relates to a development whereby areas earlier inhabited by less wealthy social groups are taken over by middle and upper middle-class residents. In the discussions of these changes, two perspectives have dominated. Representatives for the consumer perspective argue that gentrification occ
