Mchf Calculations For Atomic Properties

A historical review of the early development of Hartree-Fock and Multiconfiguration Hartree-Fock theories is presented. After the underlying theory is summarized, some recent results from the application of these methods to the prediction of atomic properties are described. These include total energies, transition probabilities, autoionization rates, specific mass shifts, and hyperfine parameters.

Body Appearance and Quality of Life in Adult Patients with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Treated with a Brace or Under Observation Alone During Adolescence.

ABSTRACT: Study Design. The SRS brace study (JBJS-A, 1995) was comprised of patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis with moderate curve sizes (25-35°). Forty observed and 37 braced patients (77% of the original group) attended a follow-up a mean of 16 years after onset of maturity.Objectives. To analyze whether the subjectively evaluated present body appearance affects outcome as measured by

C4b-binding protein is present in affected areas of myocardial infarction during the acute inflammatory phase and covers a larger area than C3.

BACKGROUND: During myocardial infarction reduced blood flow in the heart muscle results in cell death. These dying/dead cells have been reported to bind several plasma proteins such as IgM and C-reactive protein (CRP). In the present study we investigated whether fluid-phase complement inhibitor C4b-binding protein (C4BP) would also bind to the infarcted heart tissue. METHODS AND FINDINGS: Initial

Nimodipine in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage: a randomized study of intravenous or peroral administration.

Object The calcium antagonist nimodipine has been shown to reduce the incidence of ischemic complications following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Although most randomized studies have been focused on the effect of the peroral administration of nimodipine, intravenous infusion is an alternative and the preferred mode of treatment in many centers. It is unknown whether the route of admin

Säkerhetslaboratorium underlättar hantering av smittor som ebola.

Ebola and MERS are contagious diseases with high mortality, and separate handling of blood samples in the laboratory is necessary. Most people who arrive in Sweden with suspicious symptoms will likely have other diseases than Ebola/MERS, for example malaria or pneumococci, but we still need to take care of these patients and be able to provide optimal treatment of electrolyte disturbances, kidney

On the error exponent for woven convolutional codes with outer warps

In this correspondence the error exponent and the decoding complexity of binary woven convolutional codes with outer warp and with binary convolutional codes as outer and inner codes are studied. It is shown that an error probability that is exponentially decreasing with the product of the outer and inner code memories can be achieved with a nonexponentially increasing decoding complexity

Parental level of anxiety, sense of coherence and state of mind when choroid plexus cysts have been identified at a routine ultrasound examination in the second trimester of pregnancy: a case control study.

The aim of the study was to compare parents' experience of a routine ultrasound examination in the second trimester, when a choroid plexus cyst/cysts (CPC) were found (Study group; n = 22), with matched controls where no fetal deviations were identified (Control group, n = 66). All the parents had participated in a larger cohort study. The instruments used for measuring anxiety were STAI-state/tra

Saddle point approximation of Rice's formula

The saddle point approximation of Rice's formula for the upcrossing rate of a stationary random process has until now only been informally studied. We formulate and prove a formal theorem which gives the first two terms in the saddle point expansion and slightly modify the second term.

Effects of conjugated linoleic acid plus n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids on insulin secretion and estimated insulin sensitivity in men.

Background/Objectives:Dietary addition of either conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) or n-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LC-PUFAs) has been shown to alter adiposity and circulating lipids, risk markers of cardiovascular diseases. However, CLA may decrease insulin sensitivity, an effect that may be reversed by n-3 LC-PUFA. Thus, the potential of CLA plus n-3 LC-PUFA to affect insulin secr
