Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are the main constituents of the tumor microenvironment. Several studies have delineated CAF heterogeneity in different types of tumors, however, it is still unknown how the distinct CAF transcriptional profiles are established during tumor progression. Methods: We reanalyzed a previously published single-cell RNA-sequencing dataset of MMTV-PyMT tum
The concept of integrated risk management (IRM) has developed as a response to more interconnected and complex contexts. To investigate how the concept is used and what is meant with integration in the scientific literature, a research profiling was carried out across all kinds of risk management applications. 1094 publications from scientific journals, conference proceedings, and books were inclu
This volume shows that waste, in both how it is produced and how it is construed, can serve as a revelatory lens through which the social world itself may be critically re-examined and assessed. Drawing on related interdisciplinary interests for waste, it presents contributions that address the thematic concerns of materiality, society, economy, and temporality. The aim is to offer an introduction
This thesis clarifies and highlights how selected parts of Swedish law in the field of health care relate to different ways of understanding events that have caused or could have caused patient injury: a systems perspective and an individual perspective, respectively. It thus examines how the law and its application relate to conflicts between supporting openness and learning based on a systems pe
Background: The six-minute walk distance (6MWD) is a measure of functional capacity and a frequently used endpoint in clinical trials investigating transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM). We evaluated the clinical utility of the 6MWD by quantifying the gap between the expected and observed physical performance and estimating its determinants. Methods: Outpatients with wild-type (ATTRwt)-CM
Using megahertz x-ray free electron laser imaging with x-ray pulses of ~25 femtoseconds and a machine-learning strategy, we have conducted comprehensive in situ imaging studies on the dynamics of cavitation bubble clouds in ultrasound fields at the SPB/SFX beamline of the European XFEL. The research unambiguously revealed the quasi-simultaneous implosion of multiple bubbles and simultaneous collap
The paper of Dunbar (2025) on social stress is a strong demonstration that stress in itself can have a purely cognitive origin. The paper shows that the cognitive system can have profound impacts on the hypothalamus. As detailed in my commentary, this opens up new avenues of how to interpret psychiatric conditions, placebo, and other associations between perceptions and vegetative functions in the
Entangled photons carry nontrivial quantum correlations that defy classical physics and provide new tools for monitoring quantum dynamics in molecules. The use of low-flux entangled photons in molecular spectroscopy has been proposed in the past to probe excited-state dynamics with enhanced temporal and spectral resolutions. However, these techniques have been challenging to implement experimental
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are widely used for RNA delivery, but their efficiency remains limited, largely due to poor endosomal escape. Upon administration, proteins bind to the surface of the LNPs, influencing cellular uptake and potentially altering their interfacial properties. Such alterations may also affect their interaction with endosomal membranes, thus influencing the critical endosomal
This special issue introduces the concept of the “entrepreneurship industry” (EI), a rapidly expanding global sector comprising actors, services, and infrastructures that promote and commodify entrepreneurial activity. Moving beyond traditional demand-side views of entrepreneurship, the issue explores how EI shapes entrepreneurial behavior through cultural norms, institutional structures, and poli
The short-lived apex of journalistic freedom that took place after Perestroika in the late 1980s and early 1990s has been followed by setbacks and stagnation of press freedom, in particular since Putin’s accession to power in 2000. Despite this, qualitative text analysis of commentary articles in some of the most important current Russian news sites strongly indicates that during 2008–2018, reader
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: High grade gliomas (HGG) are aggressive brain tumors, most frequently glioblastoma and astrocytoma grade 4. Methylation of O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) promoter in HGG is crucial for temozolomide efficacy. As MGMT promoter methylation (MGMTpm) assessment requires tumor tissue, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is of interest for non-invasive prediction. We ai
Purpose: Autism, psychosis and catatonia were once considered part of schizophrenia. While both autism and catatonia have been “detached” from schizophrenia, co-occurrence of the three conditions may be suspected in some cases, because of overlapping features, leading to challenges in diagnosis and treatment. This review provides an overview of the literature regarding the co-occurrence of autism,
