Nu ska Daniel Agardh tillsammans med forskarkollegor i USA coh FInland analysera 20000 avföringsprover från TEDDY-barn för att se om det finns en koppling mellan virus och celiaki.  NIH (amerikanska hälsomyndigheten) har gett ett anslag på 23 miljoner till denna forskningen. Daniel Agardhs forskning bidrog till att Livsmedels­verket har ändrat sina rekommendationer för introduktion av gluten till spädbarn.
