Forskargruppen fokuserar på diagnostik av svåra infektioner utifrån fynd av mikroorganismer, med både laboratoriemetoder samt data från journalsystem och register. Arbetet berör områden bland annat infektioner med aerokocker, streptokocker, stafylokocker och andra bakterier (huvudsakligen grampositiva), samt diagnostik och prognos vid bakteriemi och kardiovaskulära infektioner.The research group focuses on the diagnosis of severe infections based on findings of microorganisms, using both laboratory methods and data from medical records and registries. The work covers areas such as infections with aerococci, streptococci, staphylococci, and other bacteria (mainly Gram-positive), as well as diagnosis and prognosis in bacteremia and cardiovascular infections.

Målsättningen för vår forskargrupp är att kunna bidra till en ökad förståelse för mekanismerna bakom kroniskt inflammatoriska lungsjukdomar. Det är kunskap som är viktig ur såväl ett grundforskningsperspektiv som ur ett kliniskt perspektiv. Målet är även att ta fram nya markörer för tidig diagnostik och nya måltavlor för behandling av kroniskt inflammatoriska lungsjukdomar.The objective of our research is to contribute to an increased understanding of the mechanisms behind inflammatory pulmonary diseases. This knowledge is important not only from a basic research perspective but also from a clinical point of view. Forskargruppen Ekologisk och evolutionär fysiologi studerar de mekanismer som påverkar avvägningen mellan reproduktion och överlevnad hos olika fåglar. Blåmesen, till exempel, investerar i många ungar och lever därför kortare tid. Havsörnen, däremot, satsar på att leva länge och får då inte så många ungar.The research group Ecological and Evolutionary Physiology studies physiological and ecological mechanisms affecting the balance between reproduction and survival. This involves both special adaptations and evolutionary constraints.
