Environmental Change in the Late Weichselian on the Kullen Peninsula

This was among the earliest land masses in Sweden to become ice-free, roughly 17,000 cal.

October 7th 2023 a terror attack on an Israeli music festival took place. This would subsequently escalate the conflict between Israel and Palestine, with many calling it a genocide of the Palestinian people. This thesis investigates how pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Lund and Malmö following October 7th can be understood in relation to police strategies and Anne Nassauer’s theory about situati

Improving biome classification of tropical grasslands using fire frequency data

Tropical grasslands are ecosystems of immense value, both ecologically and socially. Despite this, they are commonly misclassified as degraded forests, partly due to the large role of fire, rather than climate, in limiting the establishment of woody vegetation in those ecosystems. Misclassification can cause misguided management practices to be implemented, which explains the need for improved cla

Endast två fragment från kraniet på en svanödla hPlesiosaurs are aquatic reptiles that roamed the world’s oceans during the Mesozoic, some 251.9 to 66 million years ago. Fossils of this group have been recorded globally since the early 19th century, and include finds in the marine Cretaceous of southernmost Sweden. Here, the record of plesiosaurs is fragmentary (a so called ‘scrap fauna’), and mainly made up of isolated teeth and vertebral centr

A novel light use efficiency model for estimating gross primary production across Europe using PROBA-V and Sentinel-3 FAPAR

Satellite remote sensing is a powerful tool for modelling gross primary production (GPP) at large scales. While model comparison is a prerequisite for understanding carbon dynamics comprehensively, existing GPP products rely on a limited number of satellite sensors. In this study, the contemporary fraction of absorbed photosynthetically active radiation product derived from PROBA-V and Sentinel-3

The lexical bias effect in experimentally elicited Swedish phonological speech errors

The lexical bias effect refers to the tendency for phonological speech errors to have lexical rather than non-lexical outcomes. This effect has often been used as a piece of evidence in theories of speech production, informing assumptions about monitoring and spreading activation. However, the lexical bias effect is known only from investigations of a relatively small set of languages, and the fin

Into the Water- Water as a Design Driver in the Transformation of Mellanhamnen in Malmö, Sweden

In a country with over fifty spoken languages and a truly multilingual society, the existence of a single official language to unify the people may appear natural. However, when that language is inherited from former colonisers and is spoken fluently by less than 40% of the population, its status becomes questionable. This study investigates the use of French and language attitudes among a small
