First-principles study of dynamic instability and phase transformation in the WRe and WOs sigma phase

The formation of the intermetallic phase (space group ⁢42/⁢⁢) has a detrimental effect on the ductility of transition-metal alloys. This theoretical study uses first-principles calculations to investigate the stability and thermodynamic properties of the WRe and WOs phases. Our study indicates that the phase becomes thermodynamically stable at its ideal composition for temperatures above 1050 K an

Autoimmune Type 1 Diabetes

In this chapter, the authors summarize the current knowledge of possible trigger(s) of p-cell autoimmunity and factors affecting the progression to the clinical onset in individuals who have developed one or more p-cell autoantibodies. Testing islet autoantibodies at random or in select populations such as schoolchildren should inform about the epidemiology of autoimmune islet disease and what to

Exploring promptable foundation models for high-resolution video eye tracking in the lab

We explore whether SAM2, a vision foundation model, can be used for accurate localization of eye image features that are used in lab-based eye tracking: corneal reflections (CRs), the pupil, and the iris. We prompted SAM2 via a typical hand annotation process that consisted of clicking on the pupil, CR, iris and sclera for only one image per participant. SAM2 was found to support better spatial pr

The Reverse Red-Green-Blue Rule : A Color-Coded Approach for Simplified Achalasia Diagnosis via High-Resolution Manometry

BACKGROUND: Achalasia is a rare motility disorder of the esophagus. The diagnosis involves clinical suspicion based on history details and results of high-resolution manometry (HRM) as recommended by the Chicago classification (CCv4.0). Interpreting data obtained through HRM can be complex especially for the novice user.METHODS: We propose therefore a color-based algorithm involving the "reversed

Predicting teachers’ intentions to use virtual reality in education : a study based on the UTAUT-2 framework

This study aims to investigate the factors influencing teachers’ intentions to integrate Virtual Reality (VR) technology into their educational practices, utilising the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT-2) framework. The research involved adapting and validating the ‘Acceptance of Mobile Immersive Virtual Reality in Secondary Education Teachers’ scale to the Turkish context

Student experiences and perspectives on decolonising global health education : a qualitative study across five Nordic countries

BACKGROUND: Decolonisation has become a global health priority, addressing inequities rooted in colonial histories that continue to shape power dynamics and knowledge systems. Nordic global health programmes bring together students and faculty from diverse backgrounds in a region defined by inclusive ideals but shaped by underexamined colonial legacies. This context offers a valuable setting to ex

Enkäten kartlade tre större områden: möjligheNeuropsychiatric assessments and diagnoses have been a recurring topic in the media, but the working conditions of psychologists involved in these assessments have not been widely discussed. This survey was conducted to examine the working conditions of psychologists. It was carried out as a digital questionnaire during the autumn of 2024, and this report summarizes the results. The questionnaire f

Representing and rekindling conviviality : The role of Burgaz islanders’ media productions in resilience, solidarity, and reunion

This article examines how Burgaz islanders use media productions – novels, memoirs, documentaries, and interview-based books – to represent and rekindle conviviality, resilience, and solidarity in response to political crises and forced migration within a post-Ottoman homogenising context. By combining media studies and anthropology, I analyse narratives and representations in these media producti

French Trumpet Concertos

During the second half of the 19th century, a French school of trumpet playing was established, with French musicians and composers at the forefront of the instrument’s musical and technical development. As a result, it was entrusted with a more prominent role within the orchestra and soon also as a solo instrument. On the present disc, Håkan Hardenberger – who like so many other leading trumpet p

Unveiling the hurdles confronting compressed biogas plants : a comprehensive research analysis for sustainable energy solution

The purpose of this work is to identify and analyze the key important barriers to uptake the compressed biogas (CBG) plants in India for enhancing their role as a sustainable energy source. Initially, the barriers are identified from the past academic literature using literature review process and are then validated through the fuzzy Delphi method with expert opinions. The finalized barriers were

Effect of inaccurate b-values from imaging gradients on intravoxel incoherent motion

PURPOSE: Neglecting imaging gradients in b-value calculations has been a documented issue for decades and remains unaccounted for in the current postprocessing pipelines. This omission may introduce inaccuracies that propagate into diffusion parameter estimates, such as in ADC and DTI analysis. Because intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) makes use of low b-values, these inaccuracies may be of grea
