Heating and Cooling of the Supply air in Fan-assisted Natural Ventilation

In schools the temperature of the indoor air is one of the most important factors in terms of the indoor climate. The resulting indoor air temperature is depending on many factors; the temperature of the supply air being one of the more significant one. One fan-assisted natural ventilation system includes a supply air system where the outdoor air should be passively heated respectively cooled when

Dowel type joints – Influence of moisture changes and dowel surface smoothness

The paper gives an overview of ongoing research and research performed during recent years at Växjö University, Sweden, within a PhD study. Results from various experimental and numerical studies relating to the behaviour of dowel-type joints are presented.

The results are discussed in relation to the expected behaviour of the joints according to the current version of EC5. Possible impli

Russian Impressions - Orthodox Encounters and Scandinavian Memory

Stories can be told in different ways, and through various versions reflect various aspects of reality. Realities encountered in different ways are remembered differently, and the different memories create new memories and new remembered realities. So the question in this paper is: How do people in Sweden and Norway tell the stories of the two great Orthodox saints St Anna of Novgorod and St Olav?

Methodological reflections on gesture analysis in SLA and bilingualism research

Gestures, i.e. the symbolic movements that speakers perform while they speak, form a closely interconnected system with speech, where gestures serve both addressee-directed (‘communicative’) and speaker-directed (‘internal’) functions. This article aims (1) to show that a combined analysis of gesture and speech offers new ways to address theoretical issues in second language acquisition (SLA) and

Improved local-field corrections to the G_ {0} W approximation in jellium: Importance of consistency relations

We study the effects of local vertex corrections to the self-energy of the electron gas. We find that a vertex derived from time-dependent density-functional theory can give accurate self-energies, provided, however, a proper decay at large momentum transfer (large q) is built into the vertex function. (The local-density approximation for the vertex fails badly.) Total energies are calculated from

Power reductions in unrolled CORDIC architectures

This paper shows a novel methodology to reduce the power consumption and complexity in unrolled CORDIC architectures. It is a methodology is based on removing adder and subtractor stages starting from the first stage. The stages are replaced with a number of MUXes. Three to four stages can be removed with substantial reduction in complexity and power consumption. The methodology is applicable on C
