Bronchocarcinogenic Properties of Welding and Thermal Spraying Fumes Containing Chromium in the Rat

The possible bronchocarcinogenic effects of fumes released during the shielded metal arc welding of stainless steel and the thermal spraying of chromium oxide (Cr2O3) have been studied on the rat. The fume particles were shown to contain tri- and hexavalent chromium in soluble and low soluble forms; they were collected and implanted as pellets in the bronchi of groups of 100 rats by the method of

Hydrophobic Interactions in Bioseparation - Applications of Modified Green Fluorescent Protein

This thesis describes interactions that are salt-promoted and mainly based on the hydrophobicity of proteins. A series of variants of the green fluorescent protein (GFP) was first constructed by site-directed mutagenesis. Several tags with various properties were then genetically fused to the N-terminus of GFP. The protein variants constructed had small characteristic differences in hydrophobicity

Electromagnetic scattering from subterranean obstacles in a stratified ground

In this paper we give a general three-dimensional treatment of electromagnetic scattering from a finite obstacle in a stratified half space. The two generic cases of an obstacle either below all layers or inside one of the layers are treated. The results are an extension of earlier works on scattering in related geometries, treated by means of the T matrix method. Numerical results are presented f

The effects of active accelerator pedal in cars – Results from a large scale trial with intelligent speed adaptation.

Within the framework of the Swedish national trial with Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA) in urban areas, the effects of large scale use of “active accelerator” were evaluated. 284 cars were equipped with the system for a period of 5-11 months in the city of Lund. The driving data of all equipped vehicles were logged with regard to time and speed, both before and after activating the system. Driv
