High PGD2 receptor 2 levels are associated with poor prognosis in colorectal cancer patients and induce VEGF expression in colon cancer cells and migration in a zebrafish xenograft model

Background: Despite intense research, the prognosis for patients with advanced colorectal cancer (CRC) remains poor. The prostaglandin D2 receptors DP1 and DP2 are explored here as potential therapeutic targets for advanced CRC. Methods: A CRC cohort was analysed to determine whether DP1 and DP2 receptor expression correlates with patient survival. Four colon cancer cell lines and a zebrafish meta

Ut ur pandemin – rakt in i den digitala transformationen.

A scoping review of public building accessibility

Background: The built environment needs to be designed so that all people can participate in the activities they want and need to do. Yet, accessibility is difficult to put into practice, and accessibility issues tend to be overlooked in the building and planning processes. Objectives: The aim of this scoping review was to summarize the research front in the area of accessibility to public buildin

Diversity, lnclusion, Equity and the Threat to Academic Freedom

There can be no doubt that discrimination based on sex, race, ethnicity, religion or beliefs should not be tolerated in academia. Surprisingly, however, in recent years, policies of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (DIE), officially introduced to counteract discrimination, have increasingly led to quite the opposite result: the exclusion of individuals who do not share a radical ‘woke’ ideology on

Detection and clinical outcome of small-for-gestational-age fetuses in the third trimester—A comparison between routine ultrasound examination and examination on indication

Introduction: Fetal growth restriction is a major risk factor for adverse perinatal outcome. As most of the growth-restricted fetuses are small for gestational age (SGA), an efficient antenatal screening method for SGA fetuses would have a major impact on perinatal health. The aim of this study was to compare the SGA prediction rate achieved with third-trimester routine ultrasound estimation of fe

This paper describes the diagnostic criteria for presbyvestibulopathy (PVP) of the Classification Committee of the Bárány Society. PVP is defined as a chronic vestibular syndrome characterized by unsteadiness, gait disturbance, and/or recurrent falls in the presence of mild bilateral vestibular deficits, with findings on laboratory tests that are between normal values and the thresholds establishe

Effect of selenium on the induction of breast fibroadenomas by adenovirus type 9 and 1,2‐dimethylhydrazine‐induced bowel carcinogenesis in rats

Selenium in its organic and inorganic forms has been shown to inhibit the development of chemically induced, spontaneous and transplanted tumors. The present investigation was performed to study the effect of selenium (4 μg per ml of drinking water) on tumorigenesis of adenovirus‐type‐9‐induced breast fibroadenomas and on 1,2‐dimethylhydrazine‐induced bowel carcinogenesis in WF rats. It was found

Induction of mammary fibroadenomas in rats by adenovirus type 9

After inoculation of adenovirus type 9 into newborn Wistar/Furth rats, seven out of seven females developed one or several mammary fibroadenomas within 14–25 weeks after virus inoculation. No tumours were observed in male rats inoculated with the same virus or in untreated controls. Neonatal inoculations of adenovirus type 5, produced on the same HeLa cells, gave negative results in both sexes. Th

Linking local services to global manufactures

We assess how global shocks propagate from global manufacturing firms to local service providers through a spatial variation in export-driven service demand. We show that a 1% increase in a localised measure of exporting increases sales of service firms by around 0.08%. We also show that this link is local as the effect fades away after just 20 km, that it is more pronounced with larger and foreig

State-civil society relations in Gramsci, Poulantzas and Bourdieu: Strategic implications for the degrowth movement

Degrowth thought and strategies suffer from a tension between viewing the state as incapable of initiating transformational change and making a political appeal to it to do precisely this via targeted eco-social policies. While a small number of academic papers has theoretically addressed this tension, there is a lack in research on the strategic implications arising from conceptualizations of the
