UV (240-370 nm) and IR (3200-1500 cm-1) absorption cross-sections of HCHO, HCDO, and DCDO in abath gas of N2 at atmospheric pressure and 296 K are reported from simultaneous measurements in the twospectral regions. Cross-sections were placed on an absolute scale through quantitative conversion offormaldehyde to CO and HCOOH by titration with Br atoms, also monitored by FTIR. The integrated UVabsor

Objective: To examine the performance of ultrasound (US) for the diagnosis of gout using the presence of monosodium urate monohydrate (MSU) crystals as the gold standard. Methods: We analyzed data from the Study for Updated Gout Classification Criteria (SUGAR), a large, multicenter observational cross-sectional study of consecutive subjects with at least 1 swollen joint who conceivably may have go

The photolysis rates of HCHO, DCDO, CH3CHO, and CH 3CDO are studied by long-path FTIR spectroscopy in natural tropospheric conditions at the European Photoreactor Facility (EUPHORE) in Valencia, Spain. Average relative photolysis rates jHCHO/j DCDO = 3.15 ± 0.08 and jCH3CHO/jCH3CDO = 1.26 ± 0.03 are obtained from three days of experiments for each reaction in the period June 17 to July 7, 2006.

Relative rate techniques were used to study the title reactions in 930–1200 mbar of N2 diluent. The reaction rate coefficients measured in the present work are summarized by the expressions k(Cl + CH2F2) = 1.19 × 10−17 T2 exp(−1023/T) cm3 molecule−1 s−1 (253–553 K), k(Cl + CH3CCl3) = 2.41 × 10−12 exp(−1630/T) cm3 molecule−1 s−1 (253–313 K), and k(Cl + CF3CFH2) = 1.27 × 10−12 exp(−2019/T) cm3 molec

Long path length FTIR-smog chamber techniques were used to measure k(OH + cis-CF3CHCHF) = (1.20 ± 0.14) × 10−12 and k(O3 + cis-CF3CHCHF) = (1.65 ± 0.16) × 10−21 cm3 molecule −1 s−1 in 700 Torr of N2/O2 diluent at 296 K. The OH initiated oxidation of cis-CF3CHCHF gives CF3CHO and HCOF in molar yields which are indistinguishable from 100%. The atmospheric lifetime of cis-CF3CHCHF is determined by it

I avsaknad av mer genomgripande lösningar kring boendesegregation har de offen-tliga rummen hamnat HOW CAN WE PLAN AND DESIGN FOR community in diverse urban situations? In response to segregation and social fragmentation, public space is increasingly being conceived of as a vehicle for fostering openness towards differences, both in planning practice and theory. Drawing on two recent public space projects – Superkilen in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Jubileumsparken in Gothenburg, Sweden – this thes

The properties of laser wakefield accelerated electrons in supersonic gas flows of hydrogen and helium are investigated. At identical backing pressure, we find that electron beams emerging from helium show large variations in their spectral and spatial distributions, whereas electron beams accelerated in hydrogen plasmas show a higher degree of reproducibility. In an experimental investigation of

Electron holographic tomography was used to obtain three-dimensional reconstructions of the morphology and electrostatic potential gradient of axial GaInP/InP nanowire tunnel diodes. Crystal growth was carried out in two opposite directions: GaInP–Zn/InP–S and InP–Sn/GaInP–Zn, using Zn as the p-type dopant in the GaInP but with changes to the n-type dopant (S or Sn) in the InP. Secondary electron

This paper examines gender differences in everyday stress among parents in Sweden. Recently, maternal stress has become a public health concern. One of the explanations to why mothers more than fathers get stress-related diagnoses is the unequal division of labor at home. This paper investigates mothers’ and fathers’ time allocation and its association with everyday stress in Sweden, using time di

Individual health and work are closely connected in both positive and negative ways. We investigate the impacts of paid work, unpaid work, and the perception of how work is shared, on subjective and objective health measures in contemporary Sweden. We focus on how gender, workload, and disagreement shape health impacts among partnered men and women. We perform multivariate regression analysis on d

Population ageing affects most European countries, pressurizing pension and care systems. This combination fuels demand for formal and informal care, implying that many, particularly women, are faced with dual responsibilities of paid work and unpaid caregiving. We study the relationship between unpaid caregiving for parents and labor supply (in terms of employment and work hours) among older adul

Female labor force participation increased significantly during the 20thcentury, not least in Sweden. In this paper, we investigate the importance of economic, demographic and sociocultural factors in the initial increase and growth of female labor force participationover the course of industrializationusing county-level data and panel regressions. There were important spatial differences across co

We study married and cohabiting partners’ mutual receipt of sickness allowance and disability pension among people aged 40-65 years in Finland in 1987-2011. Discrete-time hazard models are estimated on population-register based data that include several sociodemographic control variables. We find strong interrelations, irrespective of gender. The risk of receiving sickness allowance is approximate

The first experimental measurements of intense laser-driven terahertz (THz) radiation from a solid target which is preheated by an intense pulse of laser-accelerated protons is reported. The total energy of the THz radiation is found to decrease by approximately a factor of 2 compared to a cold target reference. This is attributed to an increase in the scale length of the preformed plasma, driven

Ultrashort, coherent light pulses in the extreme ultraviolet (XUV) wavelength region are excellent tools for a wide range of experiments. These XUV pulses are in particular used to characterize electron dynamics. Additionally, the high photon energy enables quantum control of short-lived transitions in atoms. These transitions are of interest for ultrafast quantum control as the bandwidth of the c
