We present a case of splenic artery aneurysm (SAA) treated with stent-grafts. This new method offers the benefit of preserving the blood flow through the splenic artery. This in turn allows for subsequent sequential embolization of the spleen when indicated, as in our patient with hypersplenism. This is the first reported case of stent-graft repair of SAA.

An overview of chiral perturbation theory calculations in the mesonic sector at the two loop level is given. Discussed in some detail are the partially quenched case relevant for lattice QCD, the general fitting procedures and ππ, πK scattering as well as the determination of Vus and K13 decays

PURPOSE: To investigate the influence of smoking on the development of radiation-induced pneumonitis in patients treated for breast and oesophagus cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a retrospective study on 405 females diagnosed with primary unilateral breast cancer stages 1 and 2 and 201 oesophagus carcinoma patients. The possibilities in Sweden to obtain detailed information from different m

Phosphine derivatives of alkylidyne tricobalt carbonyl clusters have been tested as catalysts/catalyst precursors in intermolecular and (asymmetric) intramolecular Pauson-Khand reactions. A number of new phosphine derivatives of the tricobalt alkylidyne clusters [Co(3)(mu(3)-CR)(CO)(9)] (R = H, CO(2)Et) were prepared and characterised. The clusters [Co(3)(mu(3)-CR)(CO)(9-x)(PR'(3))(x)] (PR'(3) = a

A 65-year-old female was investigated due to a gradually increasing greenish colour change of her plastic dental splint, which she used to prevent teeth grinding when sleeping. Furthermore, she had noted a greenish/bluish colour change on the back of her black gloves, which she used to wipe her tears away while walking outdoors. The investigation revealed that the patient had a contact allergy to

A wideband space-time channel model is defined, which captures the multiple dependencies and variability in multicell system-wide operating environments. The model provides a unified, treatment of spatial and temporal parameters, giving their statistical description and dependencies across a large geographical area for three outdoor environments pertinent to third-generation cellular system simula

This is a study on the recovery and recycling of copolymer in aqueous two-phase systems containing random copolymers of ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO). The random copolymers separate from water solution when heated above the lower critical solution temperature (LCST). The primary phase systems were composed of EOPO copolymer and hydroxypropyl or hydroxyethyl starch. After phase separ

Autoantibodies to the non-collagenous (NC1) domain of the alpha 3(IV)-chain of type IV collagen are found in sera from patients with anti-GBM nephritis. These antibodies have been shown to be pathogenic. In this study the antibody specificity has been investigated in patients with Goodpasture's syndrome and from a patient with atypical anti-GBM antibodies, recognizing the alpha 1(IV)-chain only. O

In order to study the effect of different intensities of anti-vitamin K treatment on coagulation parameters, 23 patients with venous thromboembolism were given, after the initial treatment period, warfarin at doses giving an International Normalised Ratio of 1.3-2.0 for 4 weeks, and of 1.1-1.3 for another 4 weeks. Blood samples were taken at the end of each of these periods and 4 weeks after the e

We assessed the serum concentration of gamma-carboxylated osteocalcin (OC), total OC, and full-length OC in a clinical setting of 37 patients on continuous warfarin treatment (international normalized ratio 2.0-3.8). A comparison was done with the results from 30 untreated age-matched controls. Four monoclonal antibodies, previously generated and characterized as to their ability to recognize diff

We describe the bifurcation set for a class-A laser with an external injected signal in terms of the amplitude and the frequency of the applied field. We explain the dynamical behavior of this kind of lasers in terms of a Lyapunov potential in the case where such a description is possible. In particular, a full description for the deterministic and nondeterministic dynamics can be given by using t

Differences in the lodgement of circulating tumour cells in various organs are considered an important factor in metastatic organ selection. The present vital microscopic studies show that the pattern of intravascular arrest of tumour cells in muscle after intra-arterial injection is similar to that observed earlier, in the liver, after intraportal injection. However, parallel isotope studies on t

Simultaneous Buda-Lund hydro model fits are presented to identified particle spectra and two-particle Bose- Einstein correlations as measured by the STAR Collaboration in root s = 200 GeV p+p collisions at RHIC. Preliminary results are compared to similar results in Au+Au collisions at RHIC, hadron+p reactions as well as Pb+Pb collisions at CERN SPS.

The three populations of squid cranial cartilage proteoglycans, D1D1A, D1D1B and D1D2 appeared to have a high degree of polydispersity. Gel electrophoresis and immunoblotting analysis showed that polydispersity was mainly due to the variable size of chondroitin sulphate E chains. This was further ascertained after rotary shadowing electron microscopy of proteoglycan core proteins and glycosaminogl

Stomach content analysis showed that Kyphosus sydneyanus collected by spearing from coastal reefs near Leigh, north-east New Zealand, is herbivorous throughout its post-settlement life. All size classes collected consumed a wide range of macroalgae, predominantly the phaeophytes Carpophyllum maschalocarpum and Ecklonia radiata, and the rhodophytes Gigartina macrocarpa and Caulacanthus ustulatus. Our purpose was to evaluate treatment safety as well as complications frequency and management in endovascular coiling of intracerebral aneurysms using MR diffusion and perfusion imaging. In this prospective study, 77 MR examinations were performed in conjunction with 43 procedures in 40 patients, 14 patients presented with ruptured and 26 with unruptured aneurysms. Mean time interval between trea
