I am a postdoctoral researcher working on visual modes of language. Currently, I am leading a project entitled "Gestures in spoken and signed discourse" in which we compare the production of gestures in two languages differing in modality: German and German Sign Language (DGS). The goal is to shed more light onto the relationship between gestures and information structure in discourse. The project takes place in collaboration with Prof. Perniss at the University of Cologne, Germany and Prof. Engberg-Pedersen at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
