Search for new phenomena in events with a photon and missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Results of a search for new phenomena in events with an energetic photon and large missing transverse momentum with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider are reported. The data were collected in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb−1. The observed data are in agreement with the Standard Model expectations. Ex
Measurement of the relative width difference of the B0‐ B¯ 0 system with the ATLAS detector
Abstract: This paper presents the measurement of the relative width difference ΔΓd/Γd of the B0‐ B¯ 0 system using the data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in pp collisions at s=7 TeV and s=8 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 25.2 fb−1. The value of ΔΓd/Γd is obtained by comparing the decay-time distributions of B0 → J/ψKS and B0 → J/ψK*0(892) decays. The result is
Glutathione S-transferase activity moderates methylmercury toxicity during development in Drosophila
Glutathione (GSH) pathways play a central role in methylmercury (MeHg) metabolismand elimination, largely due to formation of a more readily transported MeHg-GSH conjugate. Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) have therefore been proposed to facilitate MeHg elimination by catalyzing MeHg-GSH conjugation. A role for human GSTP1 in MeHg disposition is suggested by the association of two common polymorp
A search for top squarks with R-parity-violating decays to all-hadronic final states with the ATLAS detector in √s = 8 TeV proton-proton collisions
A search for the pair production of top squarks, each with R-parity-violating decays into two Standard Model quarks, is performed using 17.4 fb−1 of √s = 8 TeV proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. Each top squark is assumed to decay to a b- and an s-quark, leading to four quarks in the final state. Background discrimination is achieved with the use of b-tagging
Measurements of B →j /ψ at forward rapidity in p+p collisions at s =510 GeV
We report the first measurement of the fraction of J/ψ mesons coming from B-meson decay (FB→J/ψ) in p+p collisions at s=510 GeV. The measurement is performed using the forward silicon vertex detector and central vertex detector at PHENIX, which provide precise tracking and distance-of-closest-approach determinations, enabling the statistical separation of J/ψ due to B-meson decays from prompt J/ψ.

Cultural Trauma, Collective Memory and the Vietnam War
Part of a wider project on how the Vietnam War (1945-1975) is remembered by three key collectives, Vietnamese communists, Vietnamese Americans and the United States, this article focuses primarily on the latter. Using the theory of cultural trauma as its framework, this is a study in trauma and collective memory, its impact and the social processes through which such memory is constructed and main
Long-term inpatient disease burden in the Adult Life after Childhood Cancer in Scandinavia (ALiCCS) study : A cohort study of 21,297 childhood cancer survivors
Background: Survivors of childhood cancer are at increased risk for a wide range of late effects. However, no large population-based studies have included the whole range of somatic diagnoses including subgroup diagnoses and all main types of childhood cancers. Therefore, we aimed to provide the most detailed overview of the long-term risk of hospitalisation in survivors of childhood cancer. Metho
Antibody-based capture of target peptides in multiple reaction monitoring experiments
Targeted quantitative mass spectrometry of immunoaffinity-enriched peptides, termed immuno-multiple reaction monitoring (iMRM), is a powerful method for determining the relative abundance of proteins in complex mixtures, like plasma or whole tissue. This technique combines 1,000-fold enrichment potential of antibodies for target peptides with the selectivity of multiple reaction monitoring mass sp
The Dynameomics Entropy Dictionary : A Large-Scale Assessment of Conformational Entropy across Protein Fold Space
Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations contain considerable information with regard to the motions and fluctuations of a protein, the magnitude of which can be used to estimate conformational entropy. Here we survey conformational entropy across protein fold space using the Dynameomics database, which represents the largest existing data set of protein MD simulations for representatives of essentiall

Bullying in School-aged Children in Iceland : A Cross-sectional Study
Purpose: We describe the frequency and variations in bullying among a representative national sample of school-age children and examine whether sociodemographic characteristics are associated with bullying. Design and Methods: This study is based on a cross-sectional school-based survey-the Icelandic contribution to the international research network Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC)
Anomalous Protein-Protein Interactions in Multivalent Salt Solution
The stability of aqueous protein solutions is strongly affected by multivalent ions, which induce ion-ion correlations beyond the scope of classical mean-field theory. Using all-atom molecular dynamics (MD) and coarse grained Monte Carlo (MC) simulations, we investigate the interaction between a pair of protein molecules in 3:1 electrolyte solution. In agreement with available experimental finding
Temperature Response of Charged Colloidal Particles by Mixing Counterions Utilizing Ca2+/Na+ Montmorillonite as Model System
The osmotic pressure and the aggregation of charged colloids as a function of temperature have been investigated using Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics simulations for different ratios of monovalent and divalent counterions. In the simulations the water is treated as a temperature-dependent dielectric continuum, and only the electrostatic interactions are considered. It was found that the temper
Performance and wear mechanisms of novel superhard diamond and boron nitride based tools in machining Al-SiCp metal matrix composite
Metal matrix composites are the desired materials in aerospace and automotive industries since they possess high specific strength. However addition of reinforcement to the matrix material brings the adverse effects of high wear rate of tool materials used in their machining. The current study addresses the issues of wear and performance of superhard tools when high speed machining cast Al-Si allo

Measurement of the charged-particle multiplicity inside jets from √s = 8 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector
The number of charged particles inside jets is a widely used discriminant for identifying the quark or gluon nature of the initiating parton and is sensitive to both the perturbative and non-perturbative components of fragmentation. This paper presents a measurement of the average number of charged particles with >500 pT> 500 {\mathrm{MeV}} MeV inside high-momentum jets in dijet events using 20.3
Measurement of D*±, D± and Ds ± meson production cross sections in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
The production of D*±, D± and Ds ± charmed mesons has been measured with the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at s=7 TeV at the LHC, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 280 nb-1. The charmed mesons have been reconstructed in the range of transverse momentum 3.5
