The impact of Bcl-3 expression and signaling in cancer

Popular Abstract in English Resistant to drug induced apoptosis and uncontrolled proliferation are biggest hurdles of cancer treatment. Bcl-3 is a proto-oncogene involved in both survival and proliferation in numerous cancers. In this thesis we investigated the molecular mechanisms through which Bcl-3 facilitates the survival and proliferation of cancer cells, furthermore we aimed to identify the Bcl-3 is a proto-oncogene and belongs to the inhibitor of κB (IκB) family and is known to be upregulated in numerous cancers. Bcl-3 can initiate transcription of different genes involved in cell survival and cell growth. Cell proliferation is achieved through binding of Bcl-3 to cyclin D1 promoter and facilitates the rapid transition from G1 to S phase. The aim of this thesis was to investigate th

Doctoral Thesis: Massive MIMO in Real Propagation Environments

Popular Abstract in English Mobile communication systems are now evolving towards the fifth generation (5G). In the near future, we expect an explosive increase in the number of connected devices, such as phones, tablets, wearable accessories, sensors, connected vehicles and so on. We can imagine that much higher data rates than in today's 4G systems are required. Sounds like the future of communiMobile communications are now evolving towards the fifth generation (5G). In the near future, we expect an explosive increase in the number of connected devices, such as phones, tablets, sensors, connected vehicles and so on. Much higher data rates than in today's 4G systems are required. In the 5G visions, better coverage in remote regions is also included, aiming for bringing the current "4 bill

Bone Marrow Transplantation Confers Modest Benefits in Mouse Models of Huntington's Disease.

Huntington's disease (HD) is caused by an expanded polyglutamine tract in the protein huntingtin (htt). Although HD has historically been viewed as a brain-specific disease, htt is expressed ubiquitously, and recent studies indicate that mutant htt might cause changes to the immune system that could contribute to pathogenesis. Monocytes from HD patients and mouse models are hyperactive in response

Obesvarade frågor rörande patent på datorrelaterade uppfinningar och affärsmetoder? (Unanswered questions concerning patents on computer related inventions and business methods?)

Sources of variability in quantification of cardiovascular magnetic resonance infarct size - reproducibility among three core laboratories

BACKGROUND: Acute myocardial infarct (AMI) size depicted by late gadolinium enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is increasingly used as an efficacy endpoint in randomized trials comparing AMI therapies. Infarct size is quantified using manual planimetry (MANUAL), visual scoring (VISUAL), or automated techniques using signal-intensity thresholding (AUTO). Although AUTO is considered

Den nya marknaden

The Swedish transport administration (Trafikverket) uses turnkey contracts as a tool in their work with the assignment from the Swedish government to increase innovation and productivity in the construction sector which railway is included in. Qualitative interviews of the three different actors: clients (Trafikverket), constructors and consults have been made for the study. This is to get a pictu

Ersättningen äPublic private partnership (PPP) is a long-term agreement between a public authority and a private party. According to the agreement, the private party takes the responsibility for the design, financing, construction, maintenance, and operation of an infrastructure. In exchange for building and operating the infrastructure at the expense of the private party, the public authority pays an ongoing c

A new dimension to Risk Assessment

Traditional risk assessment frameworks have been focused primarily on the factors of likelihood and impact, utilizing either a numerical (e.g. 1 to 5) or qualitative (e.g.low,medium, high) rating scale, resulting in the traditional two dimensional framework. The challenge of this model is that the focus is too narrow to eectively assess constantly changing risk environments and fails to dierentiat

Exploring the Enablement of a Digitized Bakery - A case study

The concept of Industry 4.0 is widely discussed among scholars and business leaders alike. Being able to adapt to this fourth industrial revolution is argued by many as necessary to stay competitive and to be profitable. Many companies today, however, have production lines built on legacy systems, as well as their own unique product challenges. This study aims to overcome these challenges by explo

MODELING ENERGY LOSSES AND GAINS IN LOW TEMPERATURE BI-DIRECTIONAL HEATING AND COOLING GRIDS A CASE STUDY OF E.ON’S ECTOGRID

Energy for heating and cooling purposes is essential for many industrial processes, as well as something we all rely on to provide us with warm water and a pleasant indoor climate. As much as half of all energy consumed in the EU is used for heating and cooling [1]. District heating and cooling grids are common ways in which the energy is delivered and distributed, and due to the large quantities

The Fjörður Midden, A Volumetric approach to a 10th to 11th century midden

This thesis explores a method of volumetric modelling through 3D Geographic Information system (GIS), as a part of post-excavation research in a rescue archaeology project. The process is based on data generated through the combination of photogrammetry and more traditional documentation methods. The subject of research is a 10th to11th century midden feature at the Fjörður site in East Iceland. T

Creating Customer Value in a Circular Economy

Resource related challenges are becoming increasingly severe. The shift towards a circular economy is viewed as one prominent way to overcome the challenges. A shift towards a circular economy would partly require new business models, commonly referred to as circular business models. In order to enhance the development of circular business models, there is a need to understand how companies with c

Field reliability of plate heat exchangers in oil and gas processes - a market perspective

In the offshore industry, reliability of installed equipment is of paramount concern due to safety, environmental and economic consequences. The costs of unplanned shutdowns and maintenance have high economic implications and are of increasing importance with tighter profit margins. Reliability is therefore of significance when selecting equipment model and brand. This report presents a survey of

Bolivias demokratiska utveckling. Från klassklyftor till konsolidering

In this thesis the relationship between socioeconomic equality and democratic consolidation is evaluated through a case study of Bolivia. The country is one of the poorest in the Latin American region and has suffered a large degree of socioeconomic inequality. The country ended the transition to democracy in 1985 and has since then met challenges in consolidating the democracy and create stable p
