A Historical Review of Swedish Strategy Research and the Rigour-Relevance Gap

There are many explanations for the so-called rigor-relevance gap in academic research on strategic management. This Element reviews the existing literature on the matter and argues that it must go beyond the typical explanations of knowledge and language differences and look at more fundamental, societal, and cultural explanations. The empirical focus of this Element is the history and possible p

Research and education form competing activity systems in externally funded doctoral education

Several authors have described how the formalization of recent decades has steered doctoral education towards structured curricula, more managerial control and new models for supervision. Largely absent from these accounts, however, is if and how doctoral education has been affected by the concurrent changes in research governance, in particular by the ‘projectification’ of research. For this stud

Changes in Athletic Performance in Children Attending a Secondary School with a Physical Activity Profile

The longitudinal and multidisciplinary research project Malmö Youth Sport Study measured the sports results achieved by two cohorts of pupils using a variable named ACHIEVE, dividing the pupils into three categories (an elite group competing at the national or international level, a group competing at the district level, and a third group either not competing at all or below district level). This

Lagen om tillfälliga begränsningar av möjligheten att få uppehållstillstånd i Sverige och dess (o)förenlighet med barnkonventionens rätt till hälsa - En studie med utgångspunkt i flyktingbarns psykiska hälsa

Due to the refugee crisis that evolved in 2015, the Swedish Government introduced a new refugee policy in order to decrease the number of asylum seekers arriving in Sweden. This new refugee policy resulted, among other things, in a temporary law that limits the possibilities to receive a residence permit in Sweden. The temporary law has received a great amount of criticism from several consultatio

Legal method and interpretation in international IP law : Pluralism or systemic coherence

This chapter focuses on legal interpretation, reflecting on policy options between pluralism and harmonisation in two separate levels: (1) the desirability of establishing, or not, further harmonisation of interpretative rules, criteria and praxis in IP law; (2) whether internal harmonisation or systemic coherence between different areas of law and regulation that affect the same object or legal f

Exposed : Living with scandal, rumour, and gossip

This book illuminates the personal experience of being at the centre of a media scandal. It contributes new perspectives to the field, where both moral and media transgressions are exposed. By using ethnological and phenomenological perspectives upon an extensive empirical material, from a Swedish context, the existential level of this phenomenon can be highlighted. How does such an experience affThis book illuminates the personal experience of being at the centre of a media scandal. Organizational resilience and internal branding: investigating the effects triggered by self-service technology

The majority of studies on internal brand equity examine its various dimensions and relationships between them. While prior research specifes organizational practices relevant for successful internal branding, the insights about the impact of essential organizational factors on internal brand equity are still limited. This study focuses on organizational resilience that is vital for the existence

Effects of crop and non-crop resources and competition : High importance of trees and oilseed rape for solitary bee reproduction

To mitigate wild bee declines, it is important to understand the separate and joint effects of parallel losses of semi-natural habitats containing flower resources and increases in transient flower resources provided by mass- flowering crops. Since mobility may affect how bee species cope with these changes, they may also affect competitive interactions and thus community composition. We focused o

Besiktnings- och värderingsklausuler som tvistlösningsmekanism - en analys av expertavgörandets angripbarhet

All kinds of disputes arising from a commercial contract do not necessarily have to be brought before a court or an arbitral panel; market practice exhibits a great diversity of alternative ways of dispute resolution. This includes the inspection clause and the valuation clause, which are the dispute resolution methods scrutinized in this essay. Inspection clauses could for instance be found in co

Diurnal variation in methane flux in a low-arctic fen in Southwest Greenland

Scientific abstract: The study set out to investigate diurnal patterns in methane flux in a fen in Kobbefjord, Southwest Greenland and to link these to physical and biological parameters in the environment. Methane flux was measured using six chambers which recorded the flux every ten minutes from spring to autumn. Methane flux data from 2009 and 2010 were compared to photosynthetically active radA study of diurnal variations in methane flux in a fen in Kobbefjord in Southwest Greenland is presented. Four separate periods, each of one week, from the growing seasons of 2009 and 2010 were chosen. Methane flux data were compared to surface temperature, soil temperature and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR). Regression tests between surface temperature and methane flux produced highly

Genet age in marginal populations of two clonal Carex species in the Siberian Arctic

During a Swedish-Russian expedition to northern Siberia 1994, we sampled two marginal populations of two Carex species at two high arctic sites (C. stuns Drej. on Faddeyevsky Island and C. ensifolia V. Krecz ssp, arctisibirica Jurtz. at north-eastern Taymyr Peninsula), both north of previously documented localities in that areas for the two species. These populations were composed of a few distinc
