Neural crest cells and the evolution of a phenotypic syndrome

The cell is the fundamental unit of life and in multicellular animals, all cells are derived from stem cells. To understand how stem cell development may influence phenotypic evolution, this thesis studies a population of vertebrate stem cells known as neural crest cells (NCCs). With unparalleled potency and migratory behavior, NCCs affect many different traits spread over the entire vertebrate boThe cell is the fundamental unit of life and in multicellular animals, all cells are derived from stem cells. Centralization at Asine during the Bronze Age from a zooarchaeological perspective

From at least the Late Neolithic through the end of the Bronze Age and onwards, people continued to inhabit the settlement of Asine. For this reason, the site makes an interesting starting point for discussing long term change. This short paper presents new data on the animal bones from Bronze Age Asine. The data set is used for a zooarchaeological discussion of the site from a diachronic perspectFrom at least the Late Neolithic through the end of the Bronze Age and onwards, people continued to inhabit the settlement of Asine. Coupled luminescence and cosmogenic nuclide dating of postglacial deflation surfaces and sand drift on a raised ice-contact delta at Veinge, SW Sweden

Wind-abraded cobbles (ventifacts) and aeolian sand are known from the sandy-gravelly coastal areas of south-western Sweden, especially in association with raised deltas. Ventifacts are recorded on at least two different stratigraphic levels, at some sites atop glaciofluvial sediment, at other sites atop littoral deposits, and in some places at both levels, while aeolian sand usually forms a surficWind-abraded cobbles (ventifacts) and aeolian sand are known from the sandy-gravelly coastal areas of south-western Sweden, especially in association with raised deltas. Is Trade Bad for the Environment? Decomposing the Impact of Trade on Environmental Quality

The impact of trade on environmental quality has received a considerable attention, both in policy debate and in theoretical literature. However, the empirical evidence on the topic remains lagged. This thesis adds to the empirics by unearthing the relationships and decomposing the effect into scale-technique effect and trade-induced composition effect using Arellano-Bond GMM estimation technique.

Dewey i praktiken : en undersökning av bibliotekariers förändrade praktiker under övergången till DDK

In 2008 the National Library of Sweden made a decision to change the Swedish classification system SAB to the internationally used Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), a decision that was supported by the Swedish Library Association that recommended all Swedish libraries to make the change. The main reasons and arguments were internationalisation and rationalisation; less time should be laid on cla

Diagnos för vems skull?

In LSS staff´s work with autism they relate daily to the international diagnostic manual (DSM) where the American Psychiatrich Association has categorized and globalized the diagnostic criteria. The work has been debated and criticized by social anthropologists as an expression of society's need to categorize, to medicalise suffering and to globalize western expression of suffering. Every day
