Slutseminarium Naja Bjørnsson (semitiska språk): Checkpoints in Syrian literature 2011-2019.
Slutseminarium i semitiska språk - arabisk litteraturvetenskap. Seminariet sker på engelska. Diskutant är Anne-Marie McManus (Forum Transregionale Studien Berlin)
Naja Bjørnsson diskuterar sitt avhandlingsmanus:
Checkpoints spread and became part of everyday life in Syria after the outbreak of the revolution in 2011 and the following war. Poetic and prosaic works from the period are similarly full of checkpoints and this dissertation examines how these literary representations of checkpoints give insight into everyday life, violence, and political struggle. It furthermore stylistically explores how the checkpoints affect the narration, form, and language of the literary texts. The dissertation presents close readings of four novels and three poetry collections written and published between 2011 and 2019.
