Information Technology in Internal Business Partnering: A Case Study at a Major Swedish Truck Manufacturer

In this study I explore the field of internal business partnering (IBP) and how IT is utilized in supporting these efforts and in supporting an increased awareness. I furthermore explore what the current limitations of today's technology are, and finally, in addition, study a specific collaborative tool, namely a word processing template, and how this should be developed to maximize communicat

The effect of equal versus expanding spacing practice on the deliberate learning of L2 collocations

Research comparing equal and expanding spacing schedules in relation to L2 single words is limited. Moreover, none of the existing studies has examined the learning of formulaic language. The current study aims to address this gap by investigating the impact of equal and expanding intervals on the long-term retention of L2 collocations in deliberate learning contexts. What can migration-law learn from cartography? : Some reflections on critical legal mapping as a method for understanding law

The aim of this article is to articulate how legal processes, that produce assumptions about social realities which subsequently shape relations of inequality and oppression, may be explored using a critical legal cartographic approach. Critical cartography points to the duality of representation and construction that is innate to cartography, i.e. when portraying reality, maps are also making it.The aim of this article is to articulate how legal processes, that produce assumptions about social realities which subsequently shape relations of inequality and oppression, may be explored using a critical legal cartographic approach. Thermo- and chemosensitive properties of Transient Receptor Potential Ankyrin 1 ion channels

Popular Abstract in English All living things have the ability to detect and respond to changes in the surrounding environment and most of us take sensations caused by changes in light, sound, taste, temperature, and touch for granted. However, the process of detection and transmission of the signal generated to the brain is quite complex and some aspects not known. This thesis explores the sensorThe ability to sense and accommodate to an ever-changing environment is crucial for the survival of living organisms. Transient Receptor Potential (TRP) ion channels comprise a large superfamily of cation conducting membrane proteins that function as molecular sensors in diverse sensory processes including perception of light, taste, smell, sound, touch and temperature. The TRP Ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) i

Two Ultra-Low Power MM-Wave Push-Pull VCOs in FD-SOI CMOS

Two low-power mm-wave voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) designed in a 28-nm fully-depleted silicon-on-insulator (FD-SOI) CMOS process are demonstrated, using a push-pull differential architecture. Measurement show that the first VCO has a 10.8% tuning rage centered at 30.3 GHz, and the second has a 8.9 % tuning range at 58.7 GHz. The 30 GHz VCO consumes 1.06 mW from a 1 V supply, and has a -11

Kinetics and Mechanism for the Redox Reaction between Hexaaquathallium(III) and Sulfur Dioxide in Acidic Aqueous Solution

Oxidation of dissolved sulfur dioxide, SO2·nH2O, HSO3– and SO32–, by hexaaquathallium(III) has been studied in acidic aqueous solution with ionic strength 1.0 mol dm–3 at 25 °C. The stoichiometry of the reaction has been determined: [Tl(H2O)6]3++ SO2(aq)+ 2H2O →[Tl(H2O)6]++ HSO4–+ 3H+. Reasons Pro et Contra as a Debiasing Technique in Legal Contexts

Although legal contexts are subject to biased reasoning and decision making, to identify and test debiasing techniques has largely remained an open task. We report on experimentally deploying the technique “giving reasons pro et contra” with professional (N = 239) and lay judges (N = 372) at Swedish municipal courts. Using a mock legal scenario, participants assessed the relevance of an eyewitness

Payment Systems as a Driver for Platform Growth in E-Commerce: Network Effects and Business Models

This chapter visits some of the fundamental concepts from platform economics, network effects, and network externalities. Further on, it discusses definitions of two-sided and multi-sided markets, how they are treated as business models. These concepts are further compared to the concept service ecosystem. A case of a payment service provider whose business model contributes to the growth of e-com

Let’s talk about communication in strategic communication; : an analysis of students’ understanding of strategic communication and its implications

The aim of this paper is to address the importance of communication theory for the understanding of strategic communication. Underlying this focus are the debates and discussions on the definition of strategic communication, which have primarily been occupied with the meaning of the concept strategic. The definition and meaning of communication tend to be implicit or undefined and Van Ruler (2018)

Attitudinal and Motivational Profiles of Second Foreign Language Learners in Multilingual Contexts

Abstract: Reports and studies repeatedly indicate that foreign languages other than English are facing major challenges in European educational systems (European Commission, 2012). In Sweden, pupils’ motivation to learn a second foreign language (SFL) is reported to be low while motivation to learn English is high (Eurobarometer 2012, Tholin & Lindqvist 2009). Structural Modelling of Credit Spreads on the European Bond Market: An Empirical Study

In a growing global corporate bond market, insights and understanding of the markets pricing mechanisms becomes increasingly important to investors. While previous research on credit risk has mainly focused on the American bond market, European bonds remain rather unexplored in academia. In this article, we investigate the explanatory power of a family of credit risk models - called structural modThis thesis empirically tests the explanatory power of structural models on the European corporate bond market. Using new evaluation methods, including LASSO and gradient boosting regression, we can provide an in-depth assessment of the models’ shortcomings. With these tools we show that the structural models tend to systematically overstate or understate the spread due to an oversensitivity to le

Long-term Specialization and Trade Flow Patterns of Heavy Industrial and Light Industrial Goods: A Comparative Analysis of Anglophone and Nordic countries

Recent studies focusing on the analysis of emissions embodied in trade have shown that high-income countries are increasingly becoming net importers of emissions. This is commonly explained by the economies’ changing trade specialization in heavy and light industrial goods. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate and compare the trade specialization patterns of twelve Anglophone and Nordic co

When Sovereignty and Solidarity Collide - The European migration-security nexus

The aftermath of the European Union’s ‘migration crisis’ in 2014-2016 continues to challenge the European security discourse, marked by a dilemma of securing the internal Member States political, societal and economic sector, whilst providing human security for forced migrants in accordance with international obligations. This thesis therefore aims to elucidate the dynamic between state security a
