Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and scanning tunneling luminescence were used to correlate the topography with the emission spectra from individual self-assembled, InP quantum dots (QDs). We have investigated in detail how the electric field induced by the STM tip affects the emission from the QDs. This was done when exciting a QD, by altering the bias for constant current, by altering the cur

In this Letter, we manipulate the phase shift of a Josephson junction using a parallel double quantum dot (QD). By employing a superconducting quantum interference device, we determine how orbital hybridization and detuning affect the current-phase relation in the Coulomb blockade regime. For weak hybridization between the QDs, we find π junction characteristics if at least one QD has an unpaired
Doctoral education
The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts offers postgraduate studies in performing arts, fine arts, artistic research in music and music education. The artistic doctoral programmes are based on artistic knowledge and artistic work. The emphasis of the studies is on independent artistic work within the framework of an artistic research project with the aim of developing knowledge of artistic issues.

We report growth and characterization of a coupled quantum dot structure that utilizes nanowire templates for selective epitaxy of radial heterostructures. The starting point is a zinc blende InAs nanowire with thin segments of wurtzite structure. These segments have dual roles: they act as tunnel barriers for electron transport in the InAs core, and they also locally suppress growth of a GaSb she

Understanding piezotronic correlated carrier recombination behavior in quantum wells is essential for their applications. In this work, we have studied the influence of piezotronics on carrier recombination processes in single InGaN/GaN multiple quantum wells microwire (MQW-MW) by using steady-state and time-resolved spectroscopies. We conclude that mechanical strain induced piezotronics promotes

What mechanism should be designed to allocate PhD applicants to universities in Sweden? We introduce the Swedish PhD admissions problem, and it is influenced by the college admissions problem (Gale and Shapley 1962) and the student placement problem (Balinski and Sönmez 1999). In order to “solve” this problem, we design a novel mechanism, namely the compromise algorithm. We propose three theorems

This thesis investigates affective and semantic meaning-making in online audiovisual propaganda published by the Danish nationalist youth organization, Generation Identitær. Specifically, the study uses the notion of affective investments and relations in order to account for the ways in which the organization’s propaganda operates. It follows a feminist and postcolonial tradition and centers the
