When developing a truck it is of critical importance that the brake system is reliable and effective. When testing new trucks or brake systems you need to collect as much data as possible. One important measurand when you evaluate a pneumatic brake system is the stroke of the actuator. This master’s thesis has two goals; one is to develop a device for measuring the stroke of a pneumatic actuator m

Efficient mitigation of power amplifier (PA) nonlinear distortion in multi-user hybrid precoding based broadband mmWave systems is an open research problem. In this article, we carry out detailed signal and distortion modeling in broadband multi-user hybrid MIMO systems, with a bank of nonlinear PAs in each subarray, while also take the inevitable crosstalk between the antenna/PA branches into acc

The use of dynamic global vegetation models (DGVMs) to estimate CO2 emissions from land-use and land-cover change (LULCC) offers a new window to account for spatial and temporal details of emissions and for ecosystem processes affected by LULCC. One drawback of LULCC emissions from DGVMs, however, is lack of observation constraint. Here, we propose a new method of using satellite- and inventory-ba

This thesis examines whether the adoption of automated decision-making (ADM) in Swedish municipal social assistance is followed by changes in welfare outcomes. ADM has spread rapidly across Swedish municipalities, but existing research has mainly studied single cases and organisational processes. I therefore study whether this diffusion leaves a measurable pattern at the municipal level. The analy

This paper reports on two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) direct numerical simulations (DNSs) of the auto-ignition process of a lean H-2/air mixture with temperature stratification in a constant volume enclosure. Detailed chemistry and transport properties are taken into account in the simulations. The combined propagation of spontaneous ignition front and deflagration front is identif

Due to the potential of compact imaging systems with magnified spatial resolution and contrast, cone-beam x-ray differential phase-contrast computed tomography (DPC-CT) has attracted significant interest. The current proposed FDK reconstruction algorithm with the Hilbert imaginary filter will induce severe cone-beam artifacts when the cone-beam angle becomes large. In this paper, we propose an alg

The right- left dimension is stronger in Sweden than in in most European countries, demonstrated by the distinct bloc division in Swedish politics. However, the political landscape is changing and new tendencies has been pointed out for Swedish municipalities. The amount of municipal executive committees with parties from both political blocs has steadily increased during the last legislative term

Materialet från intervjuerna har presenterats i ett empiriavsnitt med citat som stödjer det somPurpose: the purpose of this thesis is to increase the understanding of auditors' management and views on goodwill management in accordance with current IFRS regulations. Methodology: The thesis has a qualitative method built up with semi-structured interviews with 7 auditors from big-4 and various smaller agencies. The material from the interviews is presented in a section with quotes that s

This thesis investigates the properties of a general scale-invariant Two-Higgs-Doublet Model and its phenomenological consequences with focus on the scalar sector. The concept suggests that introducing more CP-violation, both spontaneous and explicit, may make it possible to meet the Sakharov conditions and account for the Universe's baryon asymmetry. We define a modified renormalization schem

Every year two billion tons of MSW are produced globally. Due to the impact of solid waste and population growth, it is necessary to develop an integrated solid waste management plan. Such a plan, holistic in scope, would aim to minimize the negative impact of this material in the environment while being economically viable. The designation and terming of any one mode of waste treatment as superio

Abstract in UndeterminedDifferential in-gel electrophoresis (DIGE) experiments allow three protein samples to be run per gel. The three samples are labeled with the spectrally resolvable fluorescent dyes, Cy2, Cy3, and Cy5, respectively. Here, we show that protein-specific dye effects exist, and we present a linear mixed model for analysis of DIGE data which takes dye effects into account. A Java

This paper sets up a framework for designing a massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) testbed by investigating hardware and system-level requirements such as processing complexity, duplexing mode and frame structure. Taking these into account, a generic system and processing partitioning is proposed which allows flexible scaling and processing distribution onto a multitude of physically sep

It is well known that user proximity introduces absorption and impedance mismatch losses that severely degrade multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) performance of handset antennas. In this work, we experimentally verified the potential of adaptive impedance matching (AIM) to mitigate user interaction effects and identified the main AIM gain mechanism in realistic systems. A practical setup includ

The aminopropyltransferase spermidine synthase (SpdS) is a promising drug target in cancer and in protozoan diseases including malaria. Plasmodium falciparum SpdS (PfSpdS) transfers the aminopropyl group of decarboxylated S-adenosylmethionine (dcAdoMet) to putrescine or to spermidine to form spermidine or spermine, respectively. In an effort to understand why efficient inhibitors of PfSpdS have be

Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) wireless communication is expected to play a key role in enabling complex Advanced Driving Assistance Applications, including the support of emerging autonomous vehicles. The development of V2X applications, especially safety-related, requires rigorous verification. Field trials, though, have to be supplemented with less expensive and more repeatable methods. Thorough V

In this study we introduce a novel extension of an existing Lagrangian particle dispersion model for application over urban areas by explicitly taking into account the urban canopy layer. As commonly done, the original model uses the zero-plane displacement as a lower boundary condition, while the extension reaches to the ground. To achieve this, spatially-averaged parametrizations of flow and tur

Fluvial floods can cause significant damages and are expected to increase in magnitude and frequency throughout the twenty-first century due to global warming. Alongside hazard characteristics, damage potentials depend on exposure and vulnerability, which are changing in the wake of socio-economic developments. In the context of continuously evolving damage-causing factors, assessments of future c

Renewable energy is the keyword for energy industry sector in the world today. Solar energy has a huge potential, able to fulfill increasing energy demand and growing its share of energy sector. Republic of Ireland has one of the lowest solar energy deployment rates in Europe, although climatic conditions have been proved to be acceptable. The purpose of this study was to assess potential sites fo

This thesis quantifies how everyday window opening habits affect indoor climate and heating demand in Swedish multi-family dwellings. Minute-by-minute data was analyzed that was collected for one year from 15 dwellings in northern and southern Sweden, logging window angle, air-quality indicators and temperatures indoors and outdoors. More than 17 000 discrete airing events were detected and charac
